ly lived in this section, but who
now holds the position as right
of way man for the Ft. Scott and
Western railway, was in the
city the first of the week.

Joseph Houser of Garfield
county died Tuesday at the
home of his brother who lives
three miles west of here. He
was seized with paralysis from
which he never fully regained
consciousness. The remains
wore interred in the cemetery
in that vicinity.
There will lie a Christmas tree
and entertainment at the College.
Corner school house this even-
ing. An excellent program has
been prepared for the occasion
John Cross white, of Okarche,
was in the city this week visiting
with John Jones He recently
sold his farm near Okarche, and
has some idea of locating in this
vicinity.
Attorney Loyal J. Miller and
family returned home Tuesday
from their visit with relatives
at Ijobanon, and Osborn, Kan-
sas. Mr. Miller had been absent
for three weeks and his family,
for several weeks longer. This
was the longest vacation Mr,
Miller had taken for fifteen
years.
Next Sunday the regular ser-
vices as usual at the Congrega
tional church. It is is the last
Sunday of the term for which
Rev. L. A. Turner has been
employed as pastor, it will
probably close his pastoral work
I here. All are invited to the
Sunday school and preaching

! The Masons will attend the
I 11 o'clock service at the Chris-
tian church next Sunday, in a
body. The service will be in
commemoration of St. John, the
Evangelist, and his connection
with masonry. The sermon
will be preached by the pastor
of the church. All masons as
well as all others are invited.
