About two weeks ago there
was shipped us by mistake from
the manufacturers, a shipment of

rather for them to pay the freight
back, they have concluded to let
us close this lot out at exactly
cost.
One Gal. Cans $1.05.
1-2 Gal. Gins 55.
1-4 Gal. Cans 30.
Recollect this is absolutely
pure Maple Syrup, imported

Don't forget this sale lasts only
a few days more and we guar-
antee everything exactly as rep-
resented or money refunded.

INJURIOUS TO OKLAHOMA.
\ Letter of Inquiry n to the Condition"
In Oklahoma.
Hon. M. L. Turner has received a
letter from F. W. Flata, Jr., of Kansas
City, who is now visiting in Boston,
containing an article recently pub-
1 in the Boston Globe in which
lishe
Oklahoma was referred to as a wilder
ness occupied by outlaws and toughs.
The article refers to Miss Ida Hatha-
way, well known iu this cityj as the
mail carrier between Crescent City
and Guthrie. Miss Hathaway, as
everyone knows, is a perfect lady and
does not carry a revolver to protect
the mail, but drives in an open cart
through the richest and most peaceful
aeetlon In all oklahoma.
in his letter Mr. Flata says: "The
newspapers seemingly take delight in
picturing all the west a howling wil-
derness, populated by a lawless class,
etc. 1 find it difficult to interest capi-
tal, as bankers are of the opinion that
legislation in the west and southern
states will pass laws inimical to their
interests. Money is plentiful and idle,
but they are afraid to risk it under
the circumstances."
The people of Oklahoma and the
west should nail such articles, as they
are wholly untrue, and put our people
in a wrong light in the eyes of eastern
capitalists, and cause "the land of the
fair G«d." where good investments
could be made, to be looked upon as
unfit for secure investments.

There is scarcely a neighborhood,
iu London w hich cannot boost of its
local mad man. Some strange or ec-
re ti trie figure ia to be found in every
parish, and in ulmoat every important
thoroughfare.
Marylebone has a religious manioc,
who is by profession o collector of rags
mid bones.
Sauth Kensington, a shorjfc time ago,
possessed two madmen, one who imag-
ined himself to l>eNapo4e\in and walked
slowly backward and forward, gravely
aajuting everyone he met, and another
who firmly believed himself to be
Henry VIII. It is said that on one oc-
casion he accosted a famous physician
and instructed him to get him a divorce
from Anne Boleyn. "If you can't man-
ago it any other way," he said, "off with
her head—off with her head."
A man in Brompton would call a cob
and drive to a certain street in Chelsea.
There ho would Wander up and down
foi hours looking in vain for u house
uhich had been pulled to pieces nearly
1*0 years before. It had evidently been
I associated with some important crisis
in his life's history, and his mind in-
fused to disassociate itself from the
B]K)t.
At one time there came forth every
evening: from across Westminster
bridge, walking along Whitehall to the
Btrand, a man wearing a long overcoat
with a cape, a soft hat and leggings. He
had a bunch of primroses or yellow
flowers of some kind in his buttonhole,
ami another in his hat. He carried a
pipe, and strode along with bent head
and with one hand behind his back.
He ignored everyone, looked neither to
the right nor the left, and walked al-
ways at the same rate. Every now
and then he would suddenly throw up
his hands and shout in a deep voice:
* Here's to the Jacobites all over Eng-
land!" Then he would march on as
before, and people who had turned ia
alarm would sec nothing but an eccen-
tiic looking figure going steadily in the
direction of the Strand.
There is a familiar personality in the
neighborhood of Covent garden, in the
shupeof an exceedingly dirty man. He
wears a very shabby frock coat and
trousers, chiefly remarkable for the
! grease upon them, and a battered silk
i hat. Stran^ge to say, however, his col-
| lars and cuffs are always spotlessly
I clean. He wears flowers, a bunch in his
1 hat, another in his coat, and this is gen-
J orally so large that Jt reaches right
1 ucross his chest. When flowers are not
| obtainable he contents himself with a
| cabbage leaf, or a vegetable of some
I kind—anything, provided it's green and
large enough. It is said that he was
once a rising slnper, whose voice was
ruined suddenly by some accident. It
is liis habit now to sit down on door-
steps, and placing his hand behind his
ears, give vent to a scries of discordant
notes, without, tune or air, which are
echoed aiul mocked at by street boys
far and near.—Pearson's Weekly.
