adds greatly to the attendance

popular play house is showing
some high grade and expensive
pictures and you will be highly
entertained by attending the
nightly shows.
Spivey Bros., of Bonham,
Texas, a firm composed of
Messrs. M. C., R. M. and B. E.
Spivey, experienced and general
merchants of the above city, last
Saturday bought the stock of
goods and fixtures of J. W,

The new firm will likely con-
tinue business in the same old
stand, and Mr. Costilow will look
after his other interests.
While the Nsws editor and
the people generally will regret
to learn of retiring from the
mercantile business, they will
welcome Spivey Bros, and will

W. H. Jones, immigration
agent for the T. 0. A E. Ry.,
has just returned from De-
Queen where he went to look in-
to the opening of the Bonnival
trial through this section. He
3tates that the citizens of De-
Queen and vicinity have organiz-
ed a progressive club for the
purpose of taking the matter up.
The committee of that section
proposes to gravel the road lead-
ing through. Sevier county to
Ultimathule bn the line of Okla-
homa. As these people are tak-
ing hold of this proposition in
earnest, it behooves us of Mc-
Curtain county to get busy and
lend our co-operation which we

Saturday was one of the Red
Cross Lucky Days. The dinner
and supper at the Bed Cress
from
every stetodpoint. Mines. Rob-
ertson and Oran Thompson were
dressed in Bed Cross.uniforms
and assisted others in serving.
The proceeds from the dinner
and supper were $125. This is
very encouraging indeed to the
ladies who ate working so earn-
estly for the organisation .

Popular Haworth Young People
Wed.
Last Saturday afternoon Clin-
ton Marsh and Mias Ethel John-
son surprised both relatives and
friends by slipping away to
Foreman, Arkansas, where they
were quietly united in the Holy
bonds of wedlock, Rev. R. G.
Rowland officiating.
After spending a'few days in
Hope they returned-Wednesday
and will in the future be at home
to their friends in Haworth.
Miss Ethel is the oldest child
and only daughter of Mr. «nd
Mrs. A. E. Johnson. She comes
from one of our oldest and best
families and her long residence
here has enabled her to claim
the friendship and love of all
our people.
Clint, as he is familiarly
known to our people, has lived
here for several years and' is
identified with his brother in
the Hardware store, and is one
of our most enterprising young

THE RIGHT SPIRIT.
J. M. Campbell, one of the
head men of the Choctaw Lum-
ber Company at Broken Row,
was in the city Monday and in-
formed a Gazette reporter that
he was running free trains from
Broken Bow and Bismark to the
fronts in the interest of the
Thrift Stamps. If all our busi-
ness people would display as
much spirit in this war move we
would wake up old McCurtain
County.

ORDER FOR HEARING PETITION
FOR SALE OF REAL ESTATE
No. 1887.
In the County Court of McCurtain
County, State of Oklahoma.
In the Matter of the Estates of A
Hicks, Rena Hicks, Layman I
and Jefferson Hicks, minors, Ce-
phas Hicks, Guardian.
On this the 15th’ day of February,
1918, comes Cephas Hicks, ss guar-
dian of the estates of the above named
wards and filed herein his petition to
sell the real estate of said minors de-
scribed in said petition for the rea-
sons in said petition stated. And, it
appearing to the Court from tsaid pe-
tition that it is necessary that said
real estate or some portion thereof
be sold for the reasons in said peti-
tion stated.
IT IS ORDERED, That said peti-
tion be and the same is hereby set
down for hearing on the 18th day of
March, 1918, at the hour of 10 o’clock
a. m. of said day, at the County Court
Room of McCurtain County, Oklaho-
ma, at which time and place the next
of kin of said minors or any person
interested in said minors’ estates may
appear and show cause if any they
have why an order should not hie
granted for the sale of so much of
the real estate of said minors as is
necessary for the reasons in said pe-
tition stated.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That
a copy of this order be posted up in
three public places in the County, one
of which shall be at the Court House
where said hearing is to be held, and
a copy personally served upon the
next of kin of said wards and all
other persons interested in the es-
tates of said wards residing in the
County, and a copy mailed to all such
persons residing without the coun-
ty, with postage prepaid, at least
fourteen days before the hearing of
said petition. It is further ordered
that a copy of this order be pub-
lished for two successive weeks in the
McCurtain Gazette, published at
Idabel, McCurtain County, Oklahoma.

To the Defendants, Eva Oakes, Ex-
ecutrix of the estate of L. W.
Oakes, deceased, Eva Oakes and
Lawrence W. Oakes.
You, and each of you, will take no-
tice that the plaintiff herein did, on
the 22nd day of January, 1917, file in
the district court of McCurtain Coun-
ty, Oklahoma, his petition against you
in which he seeks to recover a per-
sonal judgment against the defend-
ants, Elihu M. Roberts and Eliza
Roberts, in the sum of One Hundred
Eighty-five and 75-100 ($185.75) Dol-
lars, with interest thereon at the rate
of ten per cent per annum from the
21st day of January, 1917, and the
further sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars
attorney’s fees; and for the foreclos-
ure of the mortgage executed by said
defendants on the 1st day of October,
1915, to secure the payment of the
indebtedness evidenced by the notes,
conies of which are attached to plain-
tiff |s petition, on the following de-
scribed real estate in McCurtain
County, Oklahoma
The west half "(WH) of the north-
east quarter (NE>4) of the north-
east quarter (NEV4); and the west
half (WH) of the northeast quart-
er (NEH) of section twenty-eight
(28), townshin six (6) south, range
twenty-two (22) east of the Indian
Meridian, containing one hundred
(100) acres more or less; together
with all the improvements thereon;
that in said petition said plaintiff
alleges default in the payment of said
indebtedness secured by said mort-
gage and, by virtue of the terms of
said real estate mortgage securing
same, said plaintiff was entitled to
and did declare the entire amount of
said innebtenness due and payable.
You are therefore directed to an-
swer the petition of plaintiff herein
on or before the 25th day of March,
1918, or said petition will be taken at
true and judgiritat will be rendered
as prayed for and as stated above,
and the above described real estate
will he ordered sold to satisfy said
judgment, according to law, after
which time ypu will be barred from
asserting any right, title, interest or
claim therein.
