THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER.
One of the quitest Christmas
ever had in Idabel has just pass-
ed. The people were all very
much sober and not a single
thing transpired to mar the
pleasure of anyone. Now that
the duties for another year con-
fronts us we wish everyone of
our readers a happy and pros-
perous New Year. The war is
over and many of our boys will
be returning from France and
this of itself should bring joy to
our homes.
The business man who neg-
lects his advertising for 1919 is
going to see his mistake. The
world now looks to the press for
their information. The great
banking institutions of the coun-
try have became to realize the
importance of advertising and
in many towns and cities of the
older states the banks have em-
ployed regular advertising man-
agers and are using page and
duoble page ads the entire year.
The larger firms in the country
towns are contracting now for
hundreds of dollars worth of
advertising space by the year.
The far sighted business man
has experienced by the past war
activities that advertising is es-
sential to success. Never in the
history of our country has the
advertising facilities been cut so
short for advertising. This has
been brought about by the high
cost of print paper and printing
machinery. Thousands of pa-
pers have been suspended for in-
sufficient funds to buy the stock
and the scarcity of printers. The
advertising of the government if
