road tendencies lelieve that Candidate
Watson is in sympathy with the move-
ment, and his recent attacks upon
Bryan were made in anticipation of
such a course. Seymour ' Norton, of
Illinois, who was a candidate opposed
to Bryan at St. Louis, is sail to have
been approached on the subject, lie
has given no sign, but it isrutnorel
that he is willing to accept. Altgeld
and Henrichsen have told him he can
have the nomination for auditor on the
Illinois Bryan democratic t eket, but ha
declined it, and his friends say the
reason may be found in the belief
that Bryan would withdraw or he
