The price of erudj oil has gone
below the cost of producing it, so
that furthur devolopettient tif the
oil (ields is at a stand still, The
retail price of oil at the stores
throughout Kansas has been
duced about half, while here in Ok
lahoma we are paying the same old
price. This in by reason of Our
competent and futile terrtorial
form of government, that people
seem so willing and so contented to
retain.
Assuming that a family uses
gallon of coal oil ,1 week throughou
the year, it will be seen that the
difference between the Kansas
tail price and the Oklahoma price
amounts to about $6 00 to each
family in a year. This would like
ly average as thucn as one half of
all the Other ta.Ses put togeather.
Yet it is often argued that state
hood would increase obr taxes,
A ny readef of this who liVes long
enough til see Oklahoma admitted
will sec u reduction of taxation.

An interesting discussion Is now
running In the colums of the Farm

type of hol'ses that is best adapted
to farm labor In the cbrn belt. Tin
editor of the farmer and Stockman
has tttkeh the position that thi
horse (Veighlug from 1,450 to 1,700
pounds Is not Only the most profit-
able to raise for the market, but
that an animal of this weight if the
quality is right, is much mbi
ful nil heavy farm implements than
the light-weights. The expiesBion
of tbis opinion has stirred up some
of the advocators of light breed:
and one subscriber goes so fai as to
say that he can disc more ground

out tliat the standard has more
