The adjustment or tho freight rule
controversy between the corporation
commission and the four principal
railroads doing business in Oklahoma
directs attention to tho great public
service commission. As a result of
the work of the commission there
will be aid ns early as possible in
the return or exepss freight charges
$400,000 to the shippers of Oklahoma.
The adjustment of this questi'n
means not only the immediate letun
of this money which has been paid
in excess of a fair rate but that the
lower rates will hereafter prevail
with a saving to shippers estimated
by the commission at approximately
a million dollars a yeftr. The ad-1
justment of the freight rate contro-
versy does not affect the litigation or
the two-cent fa/re law and there is a
chance for the stato to win in this
case dn the supreme court. Here is
a monument to democratic adminis-
tration in Oklahoma. The work of
tho corporation commission alone
iB worth more to the people of this
stato than the entire cost of state
government. If it costs as much to
maintain the commission as it costs
to maintain the other machinery of
stato government it would be worth
the money. We could not afford to
abandon it on account of the cost.
Jack Love, the democratic, notttiiiev
for corporation commissioner this
year, has served on the corporation
commission from its organization, is
entitled to a large share of the credit
for what has been accomplished and
it would be ingratitude for the peo-
ple of Oklahoma to do otherwise than
give him a big majority on the Gth
day of November.
