Oklahoma City did the unexpected yes-

games of the double header with Shreve-
port. The first game resulted 6 to 'J and
In the second contest, the Indians took
the a Irate* to the kalsomine vat for a 2
to 0 drubbing.
From the way the Indians slammed the
ball In the first game it was Judged by
the fans that the sluggers had got back
their batting eye ami were going In to
Increase their batting averages. Even
Casey and Downey who have been on the
downward slide rlaht planted the ball in
all parts of the lot.
In the first game Shreveport started the
scoring In the second Inning when an er-
ror by Andrews and a pretty sacrifice by
1 (iear netted a tally. Oklahoma City tied
jln their half by good batting. Noyes
secured n free ticket to first and stole
i second and Casey planted one to the right
|field fenco for two bases, scoring Noyes
Oh Me, Ob My. Rend On.
In the third inning the batting fusllade
started In grand style. Nagle singled
and Bandy laid down a pretty sacrifice,
putting Nagle on second. Perrlne hit safe
lly scoring Nagle. White sacrificed Per-
, rlne t<> second and Andrews singled, scor-
ing Perrine. Downey came up smiling
and after tapping the rubl er gently laid
one out in left field for two bases, scor-
ing Andrews. Noyes not to be outdone
sent one to right center for single and
Downey scored. Summa could not con-
nect and Noyes was left on base, but the
Indians had connected for five hits and
tallied four runs.
In the sixth. Summa got In the way of
a pellet heaved by Tesrenu and came In
n minute Inter on Casey's second two-
bagger of the game. Shreveport scored
her second tally In the seventh inning,
when Herbartt singled and later came in
nn an error by Andrews and a single by
Garvin.
The second came was closer In score and
played a great deal better. The visitors
could not connect with the shoots of
Drohan and Howell held the locals to four
safe ones.
\o scores were tallied until the fourth
Inning, when Downey singled and went
to second on a wild pitch by Howell. He
si ored on Summa's hit. In the sixth In-
ning, Downey hit safely again, but was
forced out on Noyes' hit to Howell.
Noves went to second on Summa's bit
to Howell and scored a few minutes later
on nn error by Gardiner.

Negotiations are now pending for a fif-
teen round go betwen Monte Dale and
Harry Trendall of St. Lonis. Promoter
Billy Gragg is in receipt ef a wire from
Trendall to the effect that the match would
be satisfactory to him as lie wants to get
another chance at Dale with whom he re-
cently fought a six-round draw.
Dale will arrive in Oklahoma City to-
day to place forfeit money and arrange
for meeting a good man.
Promoter Gragg had first tried to land
Roxle Roach as an opponent for Dale,
but Roach insisted on too big a per cent
of the receipts and could not be brought
to terms.
Within less than two months the meecn
of golf will be St. Andrews, in Scotland,
and the best players of the world will be
gathered there for the International cham-
pionships. It will be the jubilee meeting
of the open championship of Grent Brit-
ain.
Within the royal and ancient club house
there lies treasured the historic cham-
pionship belt which became the property
of Young Tom Morris, after he had won It
on three successive occasions, and which
was the proud possession of Old Tom
during his long life. Although St. An-
drew's will be the center of Interest at
the forthcoming Jubilee the older gen-
eration of golfers will be moved to re-
flect upon Prestwick links, the scene of
tlje belt contests and of the earliest
triumphs in golf championships.
There from 1860 to 1*70 did the famous
golfers of old assemble to try for the
coveted title. They numbered a mere band
ful ns compared with the legion of today,
but they prized the honor none the less
and they prayed for It with a Rest not
surpassed by the champions of the pres-
ent time.
The contest which has now assumed
world-wide importance began in a humble
wav. It owed its inception to the Pres-
wlck club, which subscribed the cost of
the trophv, tuirty guineas. The belt was
of red morocco, richly ornamented with
silver plates on which golfing scenes were
designed.

nation was regular. It was secured
by intimidation over things that
amounted to nothing, and it was
addressed to the county clerk in
stead of to Governor Haskell,0
Gokey said today.
Tho hearing of Gokey's application
for reinstatement will draw added in-
terest from the charge of duress Mis
resignation was made during the in-
quiry by Attorney General West'a jury
ana, since the reinstatement of Sher-
iff Harvey Garrisoh, remains as abso-
soutely the only result of the work of
the first grand jury, which was hand-
led almost exclusively by West.
The question of legality of contracts
made by the commissioners since
Gokey's place was filled by O.' H. Han
cla.ll will not arise, according to E. .T
Giddings, for the reason that a ma-
jority of the board has a legal right to
make contracts. There have been no
divisions in tho vote of tho board since
Randall went ip.

MORAN'S FRISCO FIGHT
SAID TO HAVE BEEN
SHADY TRANSACTION
It It hadn't been for the fact that Owen
Moron is an English flchter he would not
have co.. any sympathy ror the denth of
Tommy McCarthy In the rinj? iu California
some weeks ago. Fixed tights are so un-
sportsmanlike that the fighters who take
part in them deserve no sympathy. Har-
vey, who had charge of the bout, says
it wan not fixed. Thero is nothing else
for him to say. If he admitted It, the
fact would kiil him In fighting circles: If
he remained silent It would be taken for
a confession so he took the enly course
open— he denied It.
Fixed fights are unknown In England,
although a number of shady ring transec-
tions have been pulled off in France
wi'h American principals Involved. The
<lu ckest way to kill boxing Is to cease
conducting it honestly.
