Ardmore Destroyed by Fire, April 18, 1895, Davis, Harley Institute

Description: From a history compiled by Ralph Evans, Marietta. Account of the fire that destroyed the business district. The fire started in the Ab Burch livery stable, on Caddo, and burned stores up to the area of Main and Washington streets. Water from wells in the center of Main street was used. Names of the first organized fire department members, under Chief J. S. O'Mealy, are given. In 1902 Mayor Bob Dick and Lee Galt were instrumental in establishing a better water supply.
