regional convention of the Okla-
homa Council of Christian Educa-
tion which will open Wednesday in
El Reno, according to officials of
the organization.
Mrs. R. L. Fry of Yukon, youth
work chairman for the Canadian
county Sunday school association,
will have charge of arrangements
for the youth program Wednesday
Speakers at the youth session,
open to adult leaders for observa-
tion. will include Miss Helen Ruth
Holbrook. Norman, state secretary
for the Y. W C. A.; Raymond C.
Porter, religious education director
for St. Luke's Methodist church.
Oklahoma City; and Melvin C.
Dorsett, Norman, state secretary
for the Council.
At Two Churches
The youth program will open at
4:30 p. m. Wednesday. After a pic-
nic supper in the First Christian
church basement, the program will
be concluded with a play on Chris-
tian home life presented by St.
Luke’s church of Oklahoma City.

1939-40 basketball season Tuesday night when Central Cardinals come
here from Oklahoma City for a Mid-State conference engagement. The
Tribesmen then will enter a regional tournament Mar. 8 and 9 to place
their first bid for statewide honors, and if successful there they will
continue the grind in the state tournament Mar. 14, 15 and 16, when the
Oklahoma caging kings will be determined. Members of the El Reno
squad, as the faces appear from left to right, are: Everett Sweezey,
forward-guard; Raymond Rollin, forward; Roy Hahn, guard; Alton Niles,
guard; Frank Gibson, forward; hammy Shackelford, guard-forward;
Raymond Roblyer, captain and guard; Glenn Stroud, center; Fred
Grulkey, guard; Bobby Boardman, forward-center; Morris Hurst, for-
ward; Raymond Wagner, center; and Dewey Kessler, center. Coach
Anderson Green is at the left in the rear, and Johnny Sams, mascot,
stands in the foreground. Thus far the Indians have played 20 games,
losing only six. They have scored an even 500 points, compared to 405
for their opponents. Players comprising the starting lineup most fre-
quently are Sweezey, Gibson, Boardman, Roblyer and Shackelford. Head
man in the scoring column is the agile Boardman, who has contributed
151 points for a game average of 7.55. Shackelford is in second place
for the season’s tallies with 92 points for an average of 4.60 per game,
while Roblyer has hit 83 to average 4.20 while piloting the team.
