were ilrawn from the wheels last
night the great boxes containing 154.-
000 unlucky names were taken to the
athool house on the west side of town.

down by the Amalgamated associa-
tion 80 far as the steel trust is con-
cerned it will refuse to engage in fur-
ther discussion of the situation.
Joseph 8chwah brother of the mil-

the steel corporation had washed its
hands of the whole affair.
The Amalgamated officials have
failed to deliver the goods promised

The situation In the steel strike to-
day Is anything hut favorable to an
amicable adjustment. As far as can
be learned President Shaffer of the
Amalgamated association has not re
ceived any reply from the Now York
officials of the steel company regard
ing a furcher conference except a tele-
gram which It is said arrive.l last
night and which declined further dis-
cussion of questions at issue between
lalwr and the company.
The steel company officials refused
to enter Into another conference if
adhered to leaves only two w.ys open
to the Amalgamated association. One
