didate for the position of national com-
mitteeman for Oklahoma territory
The following letter received from
him by H. H. Hagan is self-explanatory:
Gueda Springs Kan. July 14. 1900.
H. H. Hagan Esq. Dear Sir:
Your telegram relative to my candi-
dacy for national committeeman for
Oklahoma received.
In reply will say that I am not a
candidate for the place and will not be
under any circumstances. If it had
come to me unsolicited and with sub-
stantial unanimity wonld have accept
ed and served the party to the best of
my abi ity.But under no circumstances
would I contest for the position.
Feeling under obligations to you and
other warm friends who have proff-
ered me their support I must most
positively decline to enter the race or
allow my name to be used in that
connection.
I want to see harmony and unity of
the Logan county Democracy as well
as in the territory at large. As to the
candidacy of Capt. Taylor if he can
win in a way to harmonize the party
speaking for myBelf shall be well
satisfied. Truiy yours
C. R Brooks.
