Ig Show Opens at Noon To-
daj for a Week's Stand.
City Locks Cay
With the blowing of num
berless whistles tooting-

clatter the fall caralval
and street fair of the cap
Italcltyof Oklahoma was
opcaed at boob today.
Forone whole week the
people of Guthrie and the
hosts of visitors will be regaled with
attractions galore. Visitors are al-
ready arriving and by tomorrow the
carnival will be on in full blast.
This afternoon a display of poultry
was made. This show in under the
supervision of Mr. L K. Lsverty.
Tho tgricultural display was also
opened this af tcrncon aud drew a large
crowd of visltorc.
Tomorrow at I o'clock the oriental
Midway and H a gen back 'h animal show
opena and at 4 o'clock a balloon ascen
sion will take place. At night all the
theatres of tho Midway will be opened
together with the big Uograph per-
formances. The oflicial program of
tho carnival appears elsewhere In this
f taper. It will bo carried out to the
etter.
Tho City's Decorations.
The city Is profusely decorated with
flags bunting tho carnival colors and
ilowers Kvcry place of business in
In the business portion of the city is
bedecked and some of the decorations
show much skill and thoughtful prep-
aration. Monster arches span the
streets banners and huge American
flags 11 7 to breeze In front of many
stores aud altogether the town has
taken cu the truo carnival spirit. The
electric light effects arc also rich.
Floats and Street Displays.
Rooths of bll descriptions lino Har-
rison and "klahotua avenues. Some of
them aro very ingenlus altatrfl. In all
creditablo displays are made. Work
on tho different displays Is being
pushed rapidly and by tomorrow even-
ing all the booth exhibits will be in
shape. Tho Leader will give a detailed
description of each booth during the
week.
Traveling Men Preparing.

National Guard Encampment.
Companies of the National Guard
began arriving this morning. The
soldiers marched immediately to Island
Park which has already taken on the
uppcarance of a "white city." Said
Lieut. Col Roy Hoffman this morning:
"I predict a very successful encamp
raent. I recently Inspected a numbtr
of companies of tho Guard and found
them in good condition Visitors to
the carnival will scu some excellent
discipline and omo neat mancrerlng
on the part of thcultlicu soldiers."
Territorial Poultry Show.
The territorial poultry show Is looa
ted on Harrison avenue between Pirst
and Second streets. L V Laverty Is
in charge of the Bhow and is busy
with a large corps of assistants In get
ting the exhibits In shape. "The
