Another scono was enacted this
morning in tho case of Fred Jaynes
tho reprobate who becoming enam-
ored of a vaudeville siren deeded lior
all his property leaving his wifo and
children utmost destitute.
It will bo remembered that Jaynus
who wus formerly captain of the Enid
militia company and later jailer at tho
United States jail In this city got
stuck on a variety nymph who loved
him out of nil his money. Jaynes sent
his wifo to Pennsylvania to visit her
rcla-tlveu and while she was away ho
turned over his property to tho woman
and enlisted in tho regular urmy for
sorvlco in tho Philippines.
Mrs. Jaynes careworn and broken
hearted returned to tho city with her
children last evening. She consulted
Judo Strang and o (forts were at onco
instituted to recover tho piano and
household goods givon away by Jay ncs.
Tho goods were located over tho Clip-
per baloon on Oklahoma avenue
owned by Win Small wood and replevin
papors wero issued.
This morning Sheriff Hinohart and
Deputy Carpenter accompanied by
Mrs. Jayncb and her attorney Judge
Strang went to tho Clipper saloon to
Identify tho goods and serve thu re-
plevin papers All tho household
goods were identified by Mrs. Jaynes.
also a piano horse and buggy valued
at $750.
Sheriff Rlnehart served the papors on
Smallwood 1n his saloon and then wont
up stairs read tho papers to Mrs.
Smallwood The sheriff ordered the
transfer men to move out the furnlturo
by taking the piano first. To this Mr'
Smallwood objected saylni; that they
could not move a (.Ingle thing out cf
tho rooms llie shoritl instated
whereupon Smallwood who posca as
tho bad man from Colorado pulled a
murderous looking revolver (julck as
a Hash Rlnehart grabbed the gun and
dealt Smallmood a stinging (1st blow
between the eyes. Smallwood went
down but immediately jumped up and
made for the shcriff-
Rluohart was mad by this time and
ho lunged ut the barkeeper giving him
a sledge hammer blow with the gun.
Tho goods which had been doing
duty in tho resort wero thon moved
out and Smallwood was taken to Dr.
Cotteraa office where a two Inch gash
In the Bid's ot his bead was stitched
Tho saloon man was then taken before
Judge Foster whero Rlnehart filed a
complaint charging him with assault
and battery and resisting an ollicer
Smallwood was pieced under 81000
bond which he is unablo to givo. In
oafcu of conviction Smallwood is liable
to ten years In the pen.
All the goods wero restored to Mrs.
Jaynes who will toll them and return
to Pennsylvania to live- Mrs. Small
wood with whom JayneB spent the
major portion of his time has a bill of
salu from Jaynes and ast-erls that Bhe
will light to maintain her rights.
