kins in his custody. In 1891 Watkins
was indicted for tho murder of Frank
Cartor who iestded on a farm four
miles northwost of Uuthrio. In the
early days Frank Carter and his family
came from Southwest Missouri and
settled on tho farm whiuh afterwards
was tlie causo of two men losing their
lives.

possession of tho farm.und was dually
killed by frank Carter who pleaded
self defence and was acquitted .loo

took it upon himself to avenge his
father's death and slipped up to the
Carter house one night and Bhot Carter
as he eat by a table reading a paper.
