On last Saturday a company of six-
teen school teachers made their way
to the Federal jIl for tho purpose of
visiting the prisoners. They found 43

the visitors to sing which they readily
did. Tho prisoners thon saug for tho
visitors.
Tho jailor took tho visitors through
dlffcront departments of tho jail. He
locked soma of thorn In the coolor that
they might know what kind of punish
mont tho prisoners sometimes received
lie said ono man had been kept in for

ilie visitors were then taken to
tho prison kitchen where the dinner
was .being prepared. Tho meal con
slsted of beef potatoes onions biscuit
ana beans. isltors were very much
surprised. a& they had expected tho
pribonots wore not very woll fed. Ono
of tho prisoner said they were so
thankful for tho nlco meals prepared
for them that they returned thanks to
tho'r new jailor for every meal. Tho
mall was next brought In and opened
by tho jailor In tho prcsenco of all and
oaeh prisoner received his loiters. A
few songs were 6ung and ono of tho
colored prisoners amused the comnunv
by dancing a jig. Then followed Borne
very appropriate talks to tho prisoners

The prisoners were asked to say some-
thing and one of them said thov would

having so good a jailor. Ho thanked
tho company for coming invited thorn
to come again aud requested them to
send the prisoners some reading mat-
ter. Then the hymn "Ood be with us
till we meet again" was sung by all
with enthusiasm when tho company
took their loave all feeling better for
having helped to cheer tho fallen.
Today tho same company took up a
collection and bought some lino water
molons and sent them to tho jail

Hank of New York vs. tho Natlonol
Hank of Guthr 0 'Do Stlgur bank) and
II. S. Cunningham receiver was set-
tled yestorday by Judge Kurford
ratifying tho agreement. Tho prop-
osition of the receiver was that ho and
his bondsmen woro to pay to tho
plant'!! corporation 81760 in full of all
aecounts and tho recolver and his
bondsmen to bo released from all fur-
ther liability in the premises the plan-
tlrt agreeing on Its part to roturn
81000 In warrants of tho city of Guth-
rie now in their possession to the
receiver. The receiver Is also to with-
draw his appeal to tho Supreme court
of tho United States and pay all costs
raade to date
This is the basis of the settlement
and It was the complete acceptance of
proposition made Receiver Cunning-
ham and settles a suit that was a truo
test of legal ability Its accoptlon
was the disallowance of the accounts
of the receiver by the Judge of tho
district who refused to allow a number
of bills that had boen admitted by his
predooessor tin office. Tho case was
taken to tbe supreme court of the
tribunal not being satisfactory to tho
reeeiver he took an appeal to the su-
preme eourt of the United States
where the matter was pending when
the agreement was reaobed.
