body of Miss Jane Krunot a wealthy
spinst r of Dana hid. lias been found
in an old well on thufariu of her sister-in-law
Mrs. Charlos Ilrunot six miles
north of I'ana.
Mrs Ilrunot hersou Henry and Prod
Sibley a young man to whom Mtss
liruuot was engaged to he married
wore arrested on suspicion and Sibley
confessed.
Miss Ilrunot arrived hero several
weeks ago to visit her sister-in-law.
Site brought with her a draft for 8000.
Tho theft of this draft is said by the
ofllcers to havo been tho motive for the
crime It is known that Slbloy secured
the draft and attempted to cash it in a
town in Indiana. I'aymcnt was refused
but Sibley went to St. Louis where
the draft was cashed
Stephon Milot a nephew of Miss
Ilrunot recoived a lotter from Dana
Ind. stating that a forged let tor pur-
porting to come from Juno Ilrunot. had
been received thore and asking Milot
to learn the wheroaboutsof tho woman.
The matter was placed in tho hands of
ofllcers au Investigation was instituted
r.ml the body was found. Thoro was a
gunshot wound in the forehead.
The police declare sho was decoyed
to the barn of her brother's widow
and shot to deat In the gar-et. The
murder is supposed to have boen cotn-
m'tted about April 1 The body was
carried to tho woll at night.
Miss Ilrunot had a valise containing
many valuable papers. Young ilru-
not and Slljloy disappeared about tho
1st of April taking the valUe with
them according to tho police and
havo sinoe made sevoral efforts to get
deeds and valuable papers from the
dead woman's sister who lives at J)ana.
Slbloy and Ilrunot woro takon bo
fore Justice Crosby this afternoon for
a preliminary hearing to answer to
tho charge of murder lloth waived
examination and wore held without
bail.
Charles Ilrunot brothor of tho mur-
dered woman died suddenly and un-

surance anil this circumstance is now
being discussed with suspicion in con-
nection with the recent crime.

today and the jury returned a verdlet
