Rev. P. U Hicks of tho M. E church
south entertained the members of tho
Royal Tribo of Joseph tho new social
and beneficiary order recently organ-
ized in this city at his church last
night. Notwithstanding the inclotta
cnt weather the church waa filled.
During thi sermon thooloquentpanion
paid many beautiful tributes to the
favorite son of Jacob for the many
kindnesses shown his brothers after
their persecution of him. His refer-
ences to Joseph's wisdom In causing
the people of Kgypt to lay aside a por-
tion of their crops duriog the seven
years of plenty to tide them over tho
seven years of famine were especially
pleasing to the members ofitho tribe
for it is upon this act of Joseph's that
order is founded. Rev. Hicks at the
close also drew many parallels In the
the acts of Joseph and tho Son of God
The sermon was well delivored and
showed that the pastor had given the
subject considerable study.
A very beautiful musical program
bad been arranged for the oecaslon
I and the singing before and after the
service was greatly enjoyed. This
church has one of the best choirs in
the city
g&Atter the sermon a young man arose
in the audience and expressed a desire
to unite with the church. He was In
vited forward and the rites of baptism
administered.
