Santiago September 7. --Three hundred Cubans Including
a colonel cams in and delivered up their arms and applied for
work yesterday. General Lttoton pays them four day's ra-
tions for each day's work. This enables the men to return
home and subsist until .they can obtain employment elsewhere
General Lawton sent word to the Cuban camps that Intelligent
and able bodied men were wanted to fill civil positions. He
will furnish ratlous to all laying dotn their arms and returning
to their homes until employment can be obtained.

The parade btarted at 10 o'clock headed by a squad of mounted
police followed by the coinraander-in-chief and staff and

as on some former occasions owing to the fact that many of
them could not walk but occupied windows etc. The aging
of the veteraus is more noticeable each year. The streets are
crowded and the windows filled with patriotic ladies.

send more troops Including the Twentieth Kansas to Honolulu
to await the action of the peaee commission. A transportation
bureau has been established with Col. Hecker aa quartermaster
and department chief. He will have charge of all transporta-

chased at the commencement of the war will be retained and
fitted Into the llnest troop ships In the world.
