says : Information has been received here of the surrender of
Manila to the Americans The government believes the town
was bombarded by the American warships and concurrently
attacked on land by Americans
were short of ammunition food and water and it is believed
that rather than yield to the insurgents August! gave up the
city to the Americans.

Manila is momentarily expected by the authorities who make
no secret of the fact that an understanding existed between
