CoLBMnus Ohio Nov. ft. Many talk
about a crisis in Ohio. Some Iwlicre
that n crisis is impending. The talk
about a combine la the legislature
against Senator Ilnnna has subsided
pending the Interest in the official
counting of tho voto in close oountiev
As tho olliclal canvass of tho vote in
the eighty-eight counties proceeded
yosterday the Republican p'urality
on the state ticket Incrcniod nml on
the legislative ticket it appeared to be
getting tow 'd a very close shave.
While the Kepublicnn plurality on
the statu ticket exceeds 3d 000. the
voto on tho legislative ticket Is nlmmt
as close as it could bo. Por this rea-
son thero is fctlll unusual anxiety at
the rospeottvc state headquarters ol
both parties.
'the Republicans still claim that the
toghOuturo stands seventy-five Repub-
licans to seventy Democrats nn joint
ballot for senator tiud that their can
didates for representatives lu three
of the close counties have been
elected by tho following pluralities:
Delaware county 20; Wood county
! Noble county 85; a total of 1 13 on
the pint nil ties. A change of 72 roles
properly distributed in these three
counties would therefore htivo turned
the result In the leg slaturo by giving
these throo representatives to the
Democrats. Then tho legislature
would have utooil 72 Republicans and
73 Democrats on joint ballot for sen
ator.
Last night It became known that
the courts would bo resorted to for
the purpose of preventing boards of
election from issuing certificates to
the Republican candidates lu certain
counties. The onus will bo brought
in the lower courts nnd thence to tho
supremo court ns soon mi possible
The Republican statu committee
already has lawyers preparing cases
of contest
A each branch of tho legislature U
the trlbunul of Inst resort In judging
of the qualifications of Its own mem-
birs tho Republicans have an advan-
tage in their control of the lmuso over
the Democrats who control the senate.
There are thirty-six (senator-. with only
two or three contests possible In that
body. In tho house thero are 100 mem-
bers with a rioz-n ir more seats that
can be contested and the Republicans
claim n majority of seven in that
body so that more Democrats could
be r.nsentcd lu the house than Repub-
licans in the senate While both com-
mittees arc keeping secret any ar-
rangements for legal proceedings
vet It is stated that tho Domoorntle
state committee will seek to enjoin
enough certificates of election from
Republlcnn representatives to prevent
tho Republicans from organizing tho
house and appointing thu committee
Hint will consider contest.
