Editor Leader--1 talked with at
least ten or twelve of our leading Dem
ocrats yesterday several of tliotn be
ing candidates for county offices who
havo made a thorough canvass. I feel
suro Callahan will carry this county
by not less than 3S0 majority; most of
thorn put it higher but 1 think this

HOW TO CAST UALLOTS.
Somo Important Rtilos nncl Instruc-
tions for Voters-
There seems to havo grown up a
notion that thoro Is danger of one los-
ing his vote after ho has deposited it
in the ballot box by reason of having
it thrown out by the election judges
especially if he votes a mixed ticket.
There Is not tho slightest grounds
for this foar If tho voter when bo
enters tho booth to prepare Ills ballot
will observe reasonable precaution
and will follow those rules
1. IMie intends to vole for alt the
candidate grouped under ouo device
it is unly iifCHHiry for him to stamp
in thu square surrounding the device
at the top n( the group of names he
warns to voiu lor unit all tho names
thereunder arc voted for.
L'. If he dualreu to vote for some
niiuieii on euuli group of tickets oil the
ballot he must stamp in tho fc quart) to
the left of the name or names he
wanlH to vote for and that voles for
the name immediately to the right of
the Kiuaro on wlilcli he stamps.
3. If stamp is placed on the do vice
at tho head of any ono group and then
in the t qunro to the left of a name on
another group it votes for tho name
on that group and not for his opponent
on tho group btamped on the device.
I. Tho voters may omit stamping in
the device At the head of any group of
names nnd otamp In the squares on
the left of any ticket and ltvotcs every
name to tho right of tho stamps on
that ticket
5. To stamp In tho squares to tho
left of the names of opposing candi-
dates for the same office invalidates
tho vote as to thuso candidates but
not as to other names votol for.

Major Ale Kinlcy's Help Soujjht.
Oklahoma City Okla. June -?? 1S96
Hon. D. T. Pfynn:
DEAR Dennis: Of course with the changes likely to
come b t-en now and election day there is no foreseeing
where rue may be at by that time. But the present pros-
pects are that owing to the financial plank in the national
platform you are likely to haxc a warm chase. Of course
you understand that the' platform suits many of us but
this does not change the fact that there is a very strong sen-
timent agttinst.it in Oklahoma.
'J his leaves you to make your race principally upon the
free home plank. Having done this before it will not be
so easy this time. Ami when you point to the fact it is in
the national platform they will at once call attention to the
almost innumerable things that have been put into national
platforms before and then disregarded.
It fust strikes me that if you had some way of calling
Major Mc Kinleys attention to the situation that he might
give the matter bare mention in his letter of acceptance. A
single sentence tn way of approval of this declararation
would enable you to go before the people with assurance
that the bill would be signed.
A very little thing like this might save your scalp per-
haps you think you are in no danger; and probably you are
not. Yet it is powerful hard to say fust now; for you
know you are placed at a disadvantage both by the gold
provision and the addition of Greer county.
Yours Truly It. II. HOWARD.
A close examination of Major Mc Klnley's letter of acceptance dis-
closes no Indication that ho known of such a place un Oklahoma but
ho dous urguo at great length in support of Mr. Plynn's gold stan-
dard platform. For freo homes or a uii&tice to save homos he is silent

Editor Leader: In reply to your in
quiry asking for an opinion relative to
the prospective result oi tue congres
sional and legislative election in this
county I beg to r.tate that from the
best light before me I am inclined to
to believe that Mr Callahan will carry
this county by 250 or 300 majority.
The Free Silver candidate for the
Sixth council district is safe for 150
majority and the candidate of the
same party for the Eleventh represen-
tative district will perhaps be elected
by 200 majority while in the Twelfth
representative district the chances are
in favor of the election of the Repub-
lican candidate.
