by Democrats tho Populist and Demo-
cratic conventions woro merged Into

elected by acclamation under the sus-
pension of ihn rules and took the
chair with a somewhat lengthy ad

the honor because ho would rather be
a door-keeper in I lie house of the Pop-
ulists than dwell in tho tents of wick
edness. Ho took the honor as evi-
dence of the appreciation of his past
worlt. It was not unworthily be-
stowod as ho had never wronged nny
man or any people notwithstanding
the damnable lie spread upon the rec-
ords of logan county. He made wmo
strong suggestions on tho work of the
campaign and discussed the issuon of
the local aud the national campaigns.
Charles Herwig of Spilnger was made
secretary.
