Attack Was Made at Kibf.
Wasliington Dec. 30 Minister
I.yon has rejwrted to the state de-
partment from Monrovia Liberia
under date of Novetnlje- 4 last the
details of the massacre in the depths
of an African forest of a white
missionary named John G.' Tate
with all his following eighteen in
number. It appears that the mas-
cre t)k place as far back as Mar-
ch 15 1901 yet this the first de-
detailed account has just come to
hand in an affidavit by Mrs. Mary
Allen a white missionary at No-
na Kroo Lilieria. She had the sto-
ry from some of the tribesmen who
who knew of the killing. She knew
of the killing. Tate had a large
mission and farm and lesides he
maintained a considerble school in
the jungle and altogether t-I..etetn
prople were iu the mission when it
was surrounded in the night by the
D'X.-. The first man who ans-
wered the knock at the door was
shot. The interpreter next was
shot and as Tate apjK'nred and tried
to protect the body of the interpre-
ter he too was shot and cut to
pieces. The Doos then killed all
the remaining inmates of the
h.'iusccut off their hands ad plac-
ing the bloody members In a cof-
fin and sent them back to their
p-ople as trophies. In explanation
of 'heir action the D os said' We
have no fight with the white man
Rut if we do not kill him he will
bring his country to mate war
on us. 1
Minister Lyon on the strenlhof;

ATCHISON PHILOSOPHY
A rat is so worthless; it's a won-
der it doesn't chew tobacco and
drink whiskey.
The first few days after a girl re-
turns from a boarding school she
hss the world pretty well fenced in.
The women have this great ad-
vantage over the men: When the
women talk back it is called 're-
partee'. When a women is a memljer of
a Don't Worry club she has to at-
tend and and keep up interest for
her husband as well as for herself.
A peculiar sight during every
Christmas rush is the man who
doesn't enjoy the game but who
thinks he must play it. And he al-
buys the most ridiculous and use-
less things imaginable. If you don't
enjovthe game don't play it. Do
not pretend to like things because
other people do. You have a right
to be natural. Atchinsou Globe.
In response to an invitation a
crowd of of twenty-two members of
Washita Valley Lodge Knights of
Pythias invaded Minco las' uiht
to assist the lodge at that place in
doing some work and enjoy a
social evening with the boys. It
was a jolly and enthusiastic crowd.
Several went on the afternoon
train and the rest 011 the 8 o'clock
train.
The lodge at Minco has been
reorganized. Grand Keeper of
Records and Seals Joe' London was
on hand directing and assisting in
the work. ' Three candidates were
initiated into the rank of page and
one made a full k light. Officers
were installed and the lodge is tiow
in condition to make fine progress.
But this dofeti't tell half the
story of the Mince invasion. The
lodge there although! not strong
numerically is composed of as fine
fellows as can lie found anywhere.
They had prepared for the most
sumptuous entertainment of their
visiting brethern and after the work
of the evening w;s finished the
guests were treated to a feast in
which nothinywas lacking tosatisfy
the cravings of a hungry knight.
It is needless to say that the
Chickasha boj s are fully com-
petent to tr.eet any occasion of this
kind and that they did full justice
to the feast prepared. The
speeches were .numerous gen-
erally at least a dozen going on the
same time while the onslaught r 11
roat turkey ham sandwiches
pumpkin pies coffee and other arti-
jcles too numerous to mention was
unabated. The Minco boys dis-
; charged all the requirements of hos
pitality in the most liberal manner.
Some of the Chickasha knights are
entitled to great distinction for their
gastronomic feats but all did so
well that we refrain from making
distinctions. A. B- Snow carried
away the honors if any special
mention should be made in the way
a turkey carcas which he retains as
a souvenir of the occasion.
Unity Lodge of Knights of Py-
thias may lie assured that their
courteous and hospitable treatment
of their visitors was fully appreciated.
