By the Winning Ticket. Scoffern Elect-
ed in the Fourth.
Democratic roosters began to
crow lustily before nine o'clock
last night and by ten o'clock they
had crowed themselves so hoarse
that they couldn't speak above a
whisper.
Democrats felt confident of win-
ning but they didn't expect the
unprecendented landslide which
occurred. The republicans had
been making loud claims about
their candidates and their plat-
form etc. They are entirely out
of business today. All their wind-
jamming plotting and planning
availed to bring nothing but in-
glorious defeat.
It was the largest vote ever poll-
ed in Chickasha and the democratic
majorities were the biggest on
record.
Woodside came through with a
majority of 144 while Grigsbyl
landed with 114 pluralif. Burt 1
received 2. good vo for police j
judge the total footing up 128. It
was predicted that the race for
chief of police would be a very
close one but Hopkins surprised
everyone with a safe majority of
87. Edwards led the ticket with a
majority of 187.
The aldei manic contests were
interesting. In the first ward
Wilson the democratic candidate
defeated his opponent by 52 voles.
Louthan had a walkaway in the
second and Gray was easy picking
for Melton in the third. Coffman
made a remarkable race iu the
fourth and Scoffern his opponent
had only 28 votes to spare.

Houss Last Night.
The Cxper lecture and stereop
Licou entertainment was given last
evening to a large audience at the
opera house. The lecturer very
ably and. thoroughly discussed
the subjects embmced in the pic-
tures. A party of people left Chicago
to travel through the Southwest
including New Mexico Arizona
etc. Each step of the way from
the moment the city of Chicago
is left was thoroughly reviewed by
the speaker making the trip en-
tertaining. A little time and many
pictures were shown to illustrate
the ruins of the cliff dwellers and
giand canyon of the Colorado
showing the marvelous archit? cture
in those days. After this lecture
a number of funny pictures were
thrown in on the canvass creating
much laughter.
