Dear Sirs Your "I'anola" brand of refined cotton seed
oil for culinary purposes cannot be too highly recommended.
I have used refined cotton seed oil exclusively in the place of
both lard and butter for twenty -five years and lind it an in-
dispes'ible house hold article not only more economical hut
being a pure vegetable oil is more healthy far superior to
lard and butter's epial. The Oil is Vtt.v is the Same

A sidewalk Is defined by Web-
ster as bcing"a raised way for foot
passengers at the side of a street."
If Webcter lived in South Mc-
Aloeter he would dismiss the sub-
ject by the simple definition:
"Luxury exints only in memory; a
necessity ia town development.
Capital
Notwithstanding the denial ot
tbe press reports of that Gen.
John B. Gordon had been tsken
violently ill while en route through
tbe South and the following state-
ment that the siok ruau was a son
of tbu General it develops that the
emluent warrior and orator is
growing feeble and that tbe pres-
ent seaeon will end bis lecture ca-
reer. This statement was made by
General Gordon himself before a
Jsckson Mies. audience a few
nights ago. Tbose of this city
who were disappointed at his in-
ability to fill his date iu the opera
bouse lecture course hope that
nothing may interfere with their
promiked opportunity to greet him
before he leaves the lecture plat-
form and that be may be able to
appear at Wagner opera house
April '7
Of his appearance at booth Mc-
Aleater last Tuesday evening the
Capital says:
Tba noted Southerner is visibly
weak physically bot nieutally he
retains all the fire and brilliancy
that bab marked his wonderful ca-
reer on tbe lecture platform and
through the dark days of the civil
war as a great general of tbe Con-
federacy uordonit getting old.
Last night he supported himself
by leaning on a chair during most
of the lecture.

Borne wag without the fear of
Qod in bis heart or respect for the
city government of Chiekasbs has
placed a sign bearing tbe word
"Danger" in one of tbe big mud
boles on Chickasba avenne in front
of Pettyjohn's drug store. The
men who do business along that
part of tbe avenue say the sign was
really pat there to warn people not
to drive into it for tbe mud is
about waist deep and baggies us-
ually come to grief when they gel
into it.
Word has been received from
the Lyceum Bureau stating that it
was a mistake in the' illness of
Gen. John B. Gordon's son which
caused telegrams to be sent oat
cancelling dates. Gen. Gordon
himself was not ill at all bat the
illness of his son caused some
dates to be cancelled and tbe iten
erary has beeo resumed. He will
positively be here April ii and
Inctnre at the Wagner opera house.

This question should be of inter-
est to every man woman and child
of every vocation. It should inter-
est the merchant and the mechanic
the farmer the physician tbe sur-
geon and the minister the teacher
and the student who intends by
God's help to rise in the world.
Time is a precious gift; wasting
time is disastrous. We people of
Chickasha find if we stop and look
into the future and think of all
tbe responsibilities resting upon us
as a little city that we have no time
to waste. But let cs not beoomo
discouraged. The man who puts
all his energy in his work and
waBtes none of it in worrying is
tbe man who is going to accomplish
the most in life.
Now we have confronting us
sidewalks library and last but
not least a hospital. Now tbe
question is how are we going to
raise the money to accomplish all
lhi6! Some will say we can't do
it; but we can aod we most.- The
man who expects to live in a com-
munity and derive much good
from society eitbur financially
socially or spiritnally mast be
willing to make hs personal con-
tribution to the general welfare.
The law of reciprocity holds good
among all Intelligent creatures.
'Freely ye have reoelved freely
give.!' It is an easy matter to say
bow much we would give if w had
wbat we do not possess. It is not
the man who gives fifty thousand
dollars to found an institute while
be has thousands to use in selQsh
ways that is generous. Giving is
not tbe throwing away of that we
never miss bat it is tb6 consecrat-
ing to noble uses that which is very
dear to us. Rich men are socn
forgotten except by those who in-
herit their fortunes. He who
would be remembered must be dis-
tinguished by personality. He
must possess a character tbat rises
above tbe grasping greed of selfish
ness edc! tne spirit ofcovetoas-
ness. He must do something that
touche the bearts of tbe people
tb&t will tell for good ou the ages
to come. Look for example at the
man in Chickasha who is prosper-
ing today. You go to bis place of
business be meets yon at the door
with a hearty "Good morning
can t 1 do something for yon!''
"Yes I'm taking up a collection
for an old lady who is destitute.
Csn you help me?" "Ob yes
glad to be able to help. There is
couple of dollars. Is tbat
enough! Come around again. Al
ways glad to be of some assistance
to those around me.'' Bat go to
the man who sits and waits for a
customer to come in and if it hap
pens to be a lady who has been
doing charity work see him go for
tbe back door and if she runs him
down as she usually does yon
ought to hear his hard luck story
"f he people of the town are not
patronising me as tbey do Mr. So
and So. They ars not treating
me right. I can't afford to give as
long as you don't patronue me.
Charity begins at home" and so
on.
Let me refer you to Taul's letter
to theCorinthians: "But this I say:
He which soweth sparingly shall
reap also sparingly; and he wbich
soweth bountifully shall reap also
bountifully. Every man as he
purposed in his heart so let him
give not grudgingly or of neces-
sity. For God loves a cheerful
giver.''
Now ciJens of Chickasha do
we need a hospital! If so. how
are we going to get it?
