Tbe lecture under tbe
auspices of tbe Masonic lodge of
this city at tbe opeia bouse last
night was largely attended by the
members of tbe order und their
guests. Tbe lecture was proceeded
by a most "entertaining recitation
by Miis Olive which riceiveda
hearty encore. Mr. .1. W. Speak
then sang 'The Ilolv City anu
was also warmly received.
The speaker of the evening
Oactain IS. Alberti. was then ii -troduued
by Mr. Kugeuc Hamil-
ton. Captain Alberti's subject
was "A trip through Uussia and
Siberia" and being au ulliccr of tbe
Hussian army tbe gentleman gave
much interesting information of
tbe army customs hardships and
life iu general of those faraway
lands. His own imprisonment
and escape were graphically de-
scribed aud all were illustrated by
a very tine series of sleroptit-an
views. Tbe lecture throughout
wa most enjoyable and the eveu-
ing's entertainment a source of
much pleasure to the fraternity
and gnests. The opera house was
well i.l'il. and tbe occasion wus
also of much social interest.
Tbe Masonic brethren wish to
especially tbank Mrs. Kdward Olive
for ber assistance in the progrum
of tbe evening. Mrs. Olive waa
tbe accompanist of Mi. Speake
and ber assistance was valuable
and graciously rendered. Also to
Miss Mamie Olive are their grate-
ful thanks due or ber Hue recital
of "Count Albeili's Uridc" which
appeared to be very appropriate.
