didate for sheriff and cleik were declared
elected and after receiving tbelr commis-
sion removed tbe books to Ingall. After-
ward th clerk skipped out and tbe Cover
nor appointed A. T. Riley of this town for
the unexpired term and he removed th"
books hack to Cimarron. Last November
N F. Watson the Ingall candidate for
cleric wa elected but the Cimarron people
claim has never qualified and bas not bean
commissioned.
Saturday Watson and a party ot abont
a dozen came over from lngalls about six.
mites distant In a wagon and on horse-
bad. and drew op In front of the build-
ing In which I tbe clerk's office upstairs.
All but four ot tbem dismounted ami
started upstair. From this point tba
torle dUTef. Clerk Riley say he sarr
them on th street and knowing their
errand locked the door widen they kicked
open and rushed In. Soveral held Rttey
up with Winchester whde tbn remainder
took tbo book and carried Ihem down
stair to the wagon. N.arly all the book
were secured and carried down to tba
wagem. By thl time tho Cimarron people
wertr rushlntr up from all direction and
soon a shot was followe 1 by another and
another until about fony had bn de-
livered the Ingall party In tbo mean-
time driving away as rapidly as poislblo;
closely pursued. Tbe clmo was not con-
tinued far beyond the town.
An examination showed that oftho Cim-

through the heart arid Instantly killed;
A. J Bliss wa abot In the neck cheek and
shoulder with buckshot; Ed Fa.-'-hurat was
hot In the breast with bucksW.. nd n

evenly hurt. It I thought Bowie and
Brook can not recover.
Later To all outward appearance peaco
retejn In Gray County to-day and tha
fart that the Cimarron people allowed tbo
four ringleaders to depart In peace witb
tbelr friend BherllT Roynold ot .Ittjralls
Bsturday night I taken as evidence tbat
the people ot tbat town are peaceably In-
clined and are willing to allow ihe law to
take Its course. When Bherifl Reynold
and the mayor ot Cimarron appealed to
the Governor for military assistance tbo
prayer of the mayor wa granted while"
the sheriff was rebuked for the power he
bad assumed without authority.
At Ingall every thing Is quiet but tho
people are still on guard. All trains pass-
ing through are closely watched by armed
men who tear a surprise although auch a
thing I very Improbablo.
A company ot tbe Btate militia arrived
at two o'clock yesterday morning and aro
now hers waiting farther order. It has
not yet been demonstrated What their In-
tentions are but it was noticeable that a
short time before tbelr arrival there vra a
sudden disappearance ot armed men on
the streets and aside from thoso ot tbo
troops no weapons are visible In town.
This dnubtles is In anticipation of an
attempt to disarm the population.
It Is reported that Ed Brooks one ot the
lngalls men who wa shot died yesterday
