Every Farmer and His Family Should Attend the Pittsburg County Fair to be Held September 17 18 19

School Opens.
Krebs' Public Sbbools opened
Monday September Sth. The
enrollment in the High School
being 31. The largest 'enroll-
ment is in the Primary depart
ment Miss Roache having 87 to
her credit.
Quite a number of children un-
der 6 years of age have been sent
for enrollment but they have
been sent back home. There
may be others who will have to
be sent home later when more
definite information can be ob-
tained concerning their ages.
It is a lamentable fact that we
have people in Krebs who are in-
clined to impose on the teachers
school and the public in general
by sending their babies to school
to get rid of the care of them
and we sometimes find three
from the same family each 6 and
no twins.
It occurs to me that parents
who teach their children to give
in their ages incorrectly are
starting them in a splendid way
to become wards of the state.
We have accepted a few pu-
pils who are not 6 yet but will
be within the first two months of
school.
The enrollment at present is
478. T. A. Craghead.

Boosters Beat the 'Gals.'
The McAlester Boosters and a
partly female ball team tried to
interest a large crowd at League
Park Sunday but made a com-
plete failure so far as the female
part was concerned.
The Boosters made 12 scores
while the girls only succeeded in
getting one run across the plate.
The Boosters had a strong line
up and could have easily made a
hundred as well as twelve.
