THERE IS SOMETHING
WRONG.
When the time comes for
hard lahor the Negro is alright;
when the time comes for voting
the Negro is alright; when the
time comes for war the Negro
is alright; But when the time
comes for representation the Ne
gro is all wrong. What is the
cause of this? It must he his
color hecause the law has no
olor. There should have heen
at least one Negro selected in
District No. 2 to represent his
people in the Single Statehood
convention at Oklahoma City
July 12 1905. It is not the intelli-
gent Negro's desire to associate
with the white race hut it is his
desire to ask for his constitu-
tional rights as a citizen espe-
cially his civil and political
rights. The white citizen has
not and will not suhmit to taxa-
tion without representation
and why should the colored citi-
zen suhmit? What is good for
the white citizen is good for the
black citizen. I sincerely hope
that all the people in both terri-
tories will be represented in the
State Constitutional convention !
regardless of race or color.
