ACCUSSER COLORED
White Policeman Accused of Rape- Com-
mit Suicide.
Una bio to face tbo charge of
criminal assault upon a colored
girl and after being ai rested
and bailed out Police officer
Clement i. Feltrup one of the
best known men on the Maiden
police force killed himself Sun-
day morning between the hours
of 4 and 0 o'clock in a portion
of the Bell Rock park near his
home by shooting himself thro'
the root of the mouth with a 32-
calibre revolver.
On Saturday morning a col-
or od girl residing in Lynn came
to the police-station in Maiden
and made eonipliint to eh 'of
of police Samuel D. Emerton
stating that she came out on the
late tiain Friday evening and
got off al Linden station think-
ing it was Lynn and before she
realized her mistake the train
was started. She met a police
officer and asked him regarding
conveyance to Lynn at that
hour. After some conversation
with him he.took her into a
gatem xn's sh-mty and criminal-
ly assaulted hot . thtaring her
clothing. After bear'ng her
complaint the chief told her to
be piesent at the Maiden police
station Satin lay evening and
when the ofiicers were drawn
up for roll call to fry and iden-
tify the officer who assaulted her
when the ofiicers wore about to
go on evening the girl was bro't
to the chief's private office and.
without hesitation picked out
Fefrup as the man who assauif-
ed her.
Feltiup was immediately sus-
pended his revolver and other
paraphernalia taken from him
and he was locked up in one of
cells. His arrest created consid-
erobl j excitement among the of-
ficrs and members of the city
government. Feltrupt remained
in his cell until 2 o'clock Sunday
morning bitterly and in a state
of mind bordering on frenzy Lie
was bailed 5ut by a relative and
immediately went to his home.
8 James St. There he did a num-
ber of choies including fixing
the furnace. His wife and fami-
ly thought that he had just
come from duty.
Alout six o'clock yesterday
morning Daniel McLeod and
Owen Trainor who lived near
Feltrup's homo saw him lying-
in the field opposite James St.
which is a portion of the park
recently purchased by the city.
The revolver was clutched in
his right hand and blood was
running from his mouth. He
was dressed in his uniform trou-
sers and had a cadijan jacket on
instead of his uniform coat. The
police wore notified and the
body was taken to McMahon's
undertaking rooms; where if
was viewed by medical examin-
er DuiToll. He left a widow
who is an invalid and four chil-
dren Boston Guardian.
Wo now have street cars in
operation in Gre.it Muskogee
and great credit is due Gen.
Reeves for the inauguration of
this enterprise that makes us
indeed at the head of the helm.
It is such energetic men as
Gen. Reeves that keeps our city
in the front rank and now we
are known throughout the world
as the "holy city."
The Democrat platform is the
same old dodge they are play-
ing for everything in sight and
ir.1 all things to all men. Its
anything to win with that gang.
It is our utmost den ire to see
the Republican party win in this
campaign and we can do so if
every individual in th" part will
sacrifice personal feeling for the
good of the party.
The Republican ticicet is su-
perior to the Democratic in every
pa t'cular. Take the candidates
and compare them. Every man
on our ticket is a taxpayer and
we think will compare favora-
bly with those on the other tick
et in every particular of course
there are some men on the tick-
et we don't like but the party
has nominated them and we
submit.
It is now up to the central
committee of the Republican
party and the candidates to see
that an enthusiastic campaign is
pushed up to the close.
The republicans nominated a
ticket and all republicans re-
gardless of what faction they
belong to will support the ticket.
Bert Greer the known brains
and push of the opposition to the
Negro got his prominence in
this community by joining in
with the Black Phalanx of the
party and nominating a ticket
with colored men as candidates.
After he has been taken from
oblivion by the Negro the un-
grateful cuss turns like a d n
snake to bito and poison his
benefactors.
Vote her straight from top to
bottom should be the slogan of
ever republican.
Bert Greer has the Negro-
phobia as usual and is trying to
array white against black. Herf
is an "amusing cuss" he is the
first white man who advised (he
Negroes to ask for representa-
tion and at. the same time offered
his services to manage the campaign.
The staunch republicans are
for tlio ticket the w Jc kneed
follows are wobbling.
AT HOT SPRINGS.
Cur stenographer Mr. W. L.
Johnson made a flying trip lo
Hot Springs and reports several
new subscribers met the con-
genial editor of the Echo and
also manager Torrence of the
Crystal Bath House. The Crys-
tal has all modern equippment
and fills the long felt want lor
our people who visit the Vapor
C i t y annually recuperating
their'heallh.
Presidont Roosevelt has ap-
pointed a colored man to one of
the best federal places in New
Yoik when Bert Greer hears of
it lie will doubtless yell another
case of white and black
There are as many sore skU
among the democrats since the
primaries as there were amo'ig
the republicans.
In the Democrat prir.nries
they voted any and everybody.
Fellows who are just about to
leave. Black and white a1! volod
hence the large vote when it
come to the regular election they
wont be there.
There should be no des.:mion
among the republicans. T! y
had their fight among tluni-
eelves before the primaries. Af-
ter the primaries they should
join hands and fight the enemy
Thats the way we fellow did
who got whipped last yeai m
the convention.
