The Indian Advocate
VOL XVI. MAY. NO 5
Our Lady of the Spring.
Queen of all the flowers
And Lady of the Spring
Within thine own bright bowers
Thy tenderness we sing.
The bees are alive in the clover
Soft clouds are adrift in the blue;
The flowrets their petals uncover
The blossoms are gleaming with dew.
Sweet Madonna the roses in their gladness
Are shedding their flagrance anew;
Smile on there is no sadness
Where thou are gentle and true
The lily that dwelt by the water
Was breathing a song in the morn
A whisper of Heaven it taught her
When first her young beauty was born.
Sweet Madonna! low drooping in her whiteness;
Unsullied by shadow or storm
She fain would seek thy brightness
Her fairness to adorn.
The blossoms will glow for an hour
In sunshine the birdling may sing
But fades the pale bud in the shower
In winter the warbler takes wing.
Sweet Madonna! remember when the snowdrifts
Blow cold as the winter theylbring
Our heart know not December
For love is always Spring.
