Ware Poisoned.- - -
The other day Mrs. G. H Ec-
cle3fi2ld and youngest child took
sick sue! leniy aftc eating a meal
and a physichn was summoned
who decided that they vere suf-
fering from ptomaine poisoning
caused it is believed from some
canned meat which they had eat-
en. This idea was strengthened
by the fact that other members
of the family also had some
symptoms ol poisoning but one
child which would not touch the
meat was free from any symp-
toms. Had Good Time.
Tho social given by the Indies
of St. Anthony's Church Wed-

Contest Snap Shots.
That silver medal looks pretty
good on James tingle which
Prof. Hayes of Fletcher gave
for first prize on the high jump
hoping it would go to Fletcher.
Since Elgin won first place in
both athletics and intellectual it
cannot be said that the two do
not go hand in hand:
Elgin furnished the biggest
crowd of rooters of any town in
the county but not the craziest.'
They say that Ernest Kits-
miller can run like a deer the
only difference is the deer has tc
be scared and Ernest does not.
i
HHd James llnglo landed right
in tho running broad jump El
fljic would have -had-ftve more
points and Fletcher two less
which would have made a differ-
ence of 10 points instead of nine
between the two schools.
They siy that Judge Sutton
lowered his hat which he ban
kept in tho air when he saw
Scott Walling come in on tht
home htretch in the 880.
That cheering of their speak
er produced by the Faxon aggro
gation did not win the debate
this year.
Since that German from India-
homa won the debate tho Kaisei
can fool proud of his subjects or
both sides tlu'water.

Picnicked Ou Cache.
( The teachers nnd pupils of the
Elgin schools with quite a num-
ber of the patrons drove out to
Cache Saturday and onjoyeda
day picnicking.
All kinds of spores and swim-
ming were indulged in and a
jolly good time imd by nil. Ten
gallons of ice cream presented
by the teacher. ill appeared in
due course also a grmid picnic
dinner.
Conveyance was furnished to
the school children and most of
them rode in two big loads one
t"am being furnished by t!ie
Kitsmiller boys and the other by
Marvin Murray and Winton Con-
nrd. Nothing serious hnppened to
mar the pleasure of the occasion
though two slight accidents oc-
curred. Ernest Kitsmiller nnd
Iluel Wolcott were both seized
with cramps while in swimming
but a close watch was kepi for
any accidents and others soon
went to their rescue.

Stock Getting Scarce
i
Fat stock of all kinds is get-
ting scarce around Elgin so that
it is difficult to ship out a full
car load of one kind of stock.
Fdr this reason a mixed car of
cattle and hogs was shipped to
Oklahoma City Tuesday by Ryan
& Wolcott.

When he was notified that thr
mule was in bad ondition he
ordered it killod and buried niid

wished to do the right thing.

Closing Exercises.
Tho work for tho Bchool year
of the Elgin schools rloscd Fri-
day night with a literary pro-
gram which was well attended.
On account of the strenuous ef-
' fort put forth by the school to
win first in tho county contest
one week before very little time
was devoted to the preparation
of this program so it was better
than could bo expected under
these conditions.
Somo of the best numbers on
the program were the songs by
some of the girls and it is pleas-
ing to note that Elgin has some
good singers developing in its
midst. The. songs by the.gchooh
were not up t6 the standard due
to the fact that most of those
concerned looked around toomuch
and depended upon Bomebody
else to do the singing.
Certificates of perfect attend-
ance were presented to Agnes
Ilorstmnnn Lola Wiggiqs Brid-
die Abbott and Helen Choens
none of these being either absent
or tardy during the school year.
A jumping jnck drill by the
girls of the intermediate room
and a drill by the boys of the
primary room were highly en-
joyed by all because of the odd
featutes therein.
Baptist Services.
Rev. S. A. Peyton of Chicka-
sha who is pastor of the Baptist
church at Fletcher preached a
good sermon to n fair sized con-
gregation in the Baptist church
here Thursday evening.

again Sunday morning and even-
ing June G also on Saturday
night before bis morning sub-
ject being "The Ability of
Christ to Save. " All are invited
to come out nnd hear him nnd to
