day School class wont out to
the sand hills and enjoyed an
Easter roast. There wore ten
boys and Mr. Spolm in the company.

for Annie L. Jones the milliner
this week.
Flames Destroy 10000 Bales
Of Cotton
Ten thousand bales of cotton
wore destroyd by fire in Okla-
homa City Tuesday evening
when the Interstate" Compress
company's plant was consumed
by flames. The origin of the
fire is undetermined.

Zimmerman's Grand Viow Po-
land China hogs was held Wed-
nesday of last wceir at Elm-
wood. 8(5 head of Folands brought
$1100 lacking only SI. of an aver-
age of $11 1. No. 1 topped the
sale selling to L. J. Nichols for
$350. Mr. Zimmerman's Po-
lands wore of tho best blood
lines that could be found any-

Easter Storm Was General
A severe storm swept Mis-
souri Kansas Nebraska and
Oklahoma 'Sunday. Snow hall
rain and wind combined in sever-
al places to make Easter Sunday
a typical winter day.
Tho storm which struck Okla-
homa points in the afternoon
continued until lntc at night In
north central Nobraska the tem-
perature fell close to the zero
mark.
Tho worst hnil storm in years
struck Tulsa Sunday afternoon.
Big damage was done to or-
chards gardens were beaten
into tho ground trees were
stripped of foliage and thousands
of window panes broken. The
haili visited Muskogee later in
the day destroying thousands
of dollars worth of property
there.

this life at Beaver Okla. March
24 1921 aged 09 years 0 months
and 2.'J days. He came to Beav-
er county in 1899 and was mar-
ried to Miss Fannie Smith No-
vember 28 189&. To this union
wore born four children Hugh
Robert Mrs. L. A Gregg and
Hazel.

The ladies of tho Methodist
Church planned and cons nmated
a complete surprise to Mrs. O.
D. Smith last Sunday. Previous-
ly during.tho week the word was
scattered out that qvery one
should bring u well filled basket
for a basket dinner immediately
after tho morning preaching
hour. The response was fine and
enough eatables were on hands
sufficient to fill three large
tables.
At tho close of his sermon
Rev. Butler announced that Mr.
Rice had something to say.
With a few well chosen words
Mr. Rice n'csentod Mrs. Smith
with a Bible a gift from the
Sunday School and church.

At throe o'clock Mrs. Smith's

the home Friday afternon con-
ducted by tho Masonic lodge.
Burial was made in the Beaver
cemetery.
Birthday Dinner
A most delightful dinner party
was given on Easter Sunday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. S.
Brown who live seven miles
southwest of Beaver it being
tho occasion of both Mr. und
Mrs. Brown's birthdays. Mr.
Browu being 07 years of age and
Mrs. Brown 59.
Those present were: Mr. and
Mrs. Geo. Altman and children
Mrs. Hugh McFarland. Mrs.
Edith Kelly and children and
Tim Bailey. All present enjoyed
themselves immensely and wish
Mr. and Mrs Brown many
happy returns of tho day.
Mrs. W. T. Quinn returned
from Norman Monday where
she attended the Sunday School
convention.

Fire Does Damage at Tyrone
Tyrone located on tho Rock
Island railroad between Liberal
and Guyinon was tho scene of a
destructive fire Tuesday which
burned five frame buildings be-
foro the flames could bo checked.
Tho fire started in the J. D.
Sims Mercantile store and trav-
eled westward to the end of the
block. Tho fire department of
Liberal was called but arrived
too late to render auslstance.
The origin of the firo is unknown.
Hooker Wins Tournament
Tho Hooker basket ball team
won the finals . in. tho All Star
Tournament at Beaver this week.
Only four of tho eleven teams
who entered tho tournament
wtre represented. Tho teams
who played were; Gate Hooker
Tyrone Beaver and tho Ameri-
can Legion team of Beaver.
Tho Mother's Clnb will meet at
tho high school Friday afternoon
at three o'clock.
