Thursday Friday and Saturday and
a wild west show the same days
with dances Interspersed life In
Beaver is becoming altogether too
strenuous. Every performance drew
record-breaking crowds Beaver Is
a real show town. The Bybee Stock
Company which was hero all last
week and which has made every
town and fair in the northwest
stated that tholr crowds here wore
the largest of any point visited.
Burk's Uncle Tom's Cabin Show
which appeared hero Tuesday night
was jammed and this following all
the festivities of last week too. It
is estimated that fully six hundred
people saw the show Tuesday night.
How's that for Beaver?

ing of a public highway in the aouth
I was advocated such highway to be
named "Jerf Davis." Well we
i Bupposo there's no objection to them
having tho highway if they can 'get
It and naming it "Jeff Davis" if the
south cares to keep green the mem-
ory of such scoundrels but we'd
suggest they plant plenty of "greon
apple trees" along tho thorough-
fare. If those old moss-backs don't
know tho cause for which they
fought is dead we may have need
of thoso apple trees. It's high time
to forget the "North" and tho
"South." Thore Is no such thing.
This Is AMERICA. Let's be Americans.

1U1AVKU COUNTY FAIR A GREAT

Beaver citizens and tho people o

satisfied or disgruntled ones in at-

failed to seo or talk to such. Ev-

ing a good time. The crowd was
' one of the largest in the history of
our county fairs.
Dlsplas this year In all the de-
partments wero excellent from botli
point of quality and quantity. The
live stock exhibition was partlcular
1 ly good. Better swine cattlu nnd
poultry could not be found at any
county fair and many of the entiles
would do credit to a stato fair show-
ing. We doubt If our own state
fair showed larger and finer pedi-
greed hogs than were exhibited
right here In Beaver and the show-
ing cattle was extremely fine too.
It was a revelation to many who

breeders owned such a class of
stock. While the editor of Tho Her-
ald has known much of the excel-
lent grade of stuff produced and
owned by somo of our readers we
must confecs that the showlug at
the fair here last week was amaz-
ing to us. Those Herefords of W.

of credit for the success of tho

Beaver County Fair und what would
the fair be without them? In puff-

season of pleasure just past don't

The very best ordor was main-
tained throughout the entire three
days. There was no evidence of
unseemly conduct. Officers wero
on the alert to do their duty If tho
conduct or tho crowd demanded It
but there was no need for an of-
ficer. Ladles and gentlemen at-
tended the fair hero and they con-
ducted themselves as such.
The only disappointment of the
event was the failure of tho air-
plane to arrive. This' was due to an
accident at Alva the plane which
was coming here having fallen at
that place and was demolished. This
was a keen disappointment to the
management for an exceptionally
daring aviator had been secured
and a spectacular performance wnu
promised. The following from The
Oklahoma!) tells of the accident to
the plane:
Alva Oct. 8. (Special) William
Busby of McAlester pilot and Fred
Hanford ot Alvn a passenger were
injured whon an airplane In which
they were riding fell 100 feet and
was demolished late yesterday af-
