Easy To Advise
It is often so much easier to advise some one
h(w to spend Mb -money than it is1 to spend- your'
own. -
You know what the other fellow ought to
spend but with you IPs different. Now any ad-
vice we may have to ofer will not be along this
line at all. Our advice 'is not along the lines of
spending money but rather in saving it. Any-
body can spend money 'but it takes a wise one to
save it. There is nothing like opening an account
at a reliable bank tossist you in saving.
Add to the account
surprised how easy it -will
matter how small.

A message to his father M. McLaln
of Gray yesterday announced the
death of Earl Majrnard McLaln. killed
in action.
LITTLE BOY ACCIDENTALLY
KILLED
This community was shocked Sat-
urday evening when the news went
out that Bertram the eight-year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gosney had
died following an accident which oc-
curred about a nhour previous. The
little fellowT in company with two
small sons of Billy Wilson were rid-
ing on a wagon on which there were
dump boards instead of a wagon box.
In some manner the horses which
were an old family team and which
the children had driven many times
became frightened and ran. Tbe
children were thrown off the wagon
Bertram falling in front of the wheel
which passed over him crushing him
so badly that he died in a short time
following the accident The older
Wilson boy who is about the same
age was seriously bruised And las-
cerated but his Injuries were not
critical and at this time he is improv-
ing. The younger Wilson boy escaped
injury.
Funeral services were conducted at
the Presbyterian church Sunday at
12 o'clock nooa by Rev. W. X. Leon-
ard aad interment was made in the
Beaver cemetery.

QUOTA CARDS FOR
4TH LIBERTY LOAN
Oklahoma City. Sept 11. (See
clal.) During tbe Fourth Liberty 1
ixian arrve in uuaaoraa eaca iaoi-
vidaal will know the exact amoant
which he te expected to subscribe.
This will be definitely stated on a
quota card which will be in the hands
of the person soliciting his subscrip-
tion. These quotas will be assigned
by county chairman after being de-
termined by district committees and
passed on by the advisory commit-
tee appointed by each county chair-
man. Individual selling campaigns
such as were put on by the Women's
Committee and the Boy Scouts in
previous drives will be discontinued
these organizations working directly
with the county chairmen and all
sales will be made on the quota
basis. A half million of these quota
cards have been issued by the state
office.
District meetings of county chair-
men i show a disposition on the part
of the drive heads to put the issue
over without a question or murmur
and reports from some of the drouth-
stricken sections indicate that al-
though this year's crop was a fail-
ure the ability of the individual to
stand by the government will be
based rather i on 'the crops that are to
came.

make sacrifices if necessary some-
thing we have not before been called

"WORK OR FIGHT" ORDER TO
BE VIGOROUSLY CARRIED OUT
Oklahoma City" Sept 11. (Spe
cial.) Neither married men nor oth
ers who elaim deferred classification
on account of dependents will escape
the "work or fight order applied to
men between the ages of 18 and 45
Those to whom this classification is
given will have to work continuously
at occupations not .held to be non
productive. Otherwise they will be
inducted into the army. The reason
for the exemption of married men is
dependency and not their status as
married men.
In the campaign waged by the
United States Employment Servico
the distinction is mado 'between es
sential and non-essential labor and
not ueiween non-proauctive ana non-
essential. The million unskilled la-
borers who are yet required for war
industries must be raised from non-
essential industries .when the pres-
ent force of volunteer laborers shall
have become exhausted.
