HARVEST HOMlT
Tho scries of entertainments Riven
under the direction of the MelhudUt
church the past week in their Harvest
Hume festivities was largely attended
mil much enjoyed. The cliureh was
most tastefully and appropriately dec-
orated for the occasion with harvest
products nnd the arrangement was one
of the best ever shown here. An arch
constructed of sheaves of wheat nnd
oats kallr maize nnd corn nnd deco-
rated witli tipples grapes pumpkins
vegetables and green was artistic nnd
original and carried out tho Harvest
Home idea in a most appropriate man-
ner. Owing to unavoidabln circumstances
the program was somewhat changed
from tho original plans Tho cold
drizzling rain prevented the enter-
tainment from being given tho Hrst
night Kov. Hestwond gave hi lecture
however Friday night. His subject
"My Chance." wag well handled nnd
both Interesting nnd instructivn. The

capably given. Heaver people certain-
ly havu the talent to put on n flrst-alao

lelvcs proud in this instance The

the Liberal Ladles' Qunrtotto was
postponed on account of tho illnesi of
one of the Indies. Thatnumbpr will

Tho edilur of tho llerulu took a
drivo out into the lialko country bun
Jay afternoon und we luund thu coun-
try certuiuly louking line with it
tirotiu acres o) wheat carpeting tin
ground with green. Wheat never
louked better thuu it is looking thU
full and everything certainly points to
another bumper crop for 1010. We
Acru attracted not only by tho line
ileitis of wheat but nUo bv the many
nogs covyh and horses pasturing on
tho Molds which makes tho country
look mighty prosperous and tdionn
that the fnrmora are getting tho right
idea. Mirfed farming is rapidly plac-
ing the furmurs of Heaver county on
in independent basis and lifting the
mortgages. The improved appear-
jnce of tho farms is ulo worthy ol
note. Better homes nru boing built
.tnd granaries silos nnd barns are
being constructed. A general nir of
prosuerity nnd contentment is evi-
denced on every band.
