Charles Miles Harold Loofbourrow
and William Mooro expect to lcavo to-
day for Norman whero they will enroll
as students at tho State University.
Harold and William will enter as
freshmen. This is Charles' second
year.

wife and MIsb Enid who had been vis-
iting in Beaver for soveral weeks de-
parted tho lint of the week for their
home at Oklahoma City. Mrs. Mill-
er's mother Mrs. Taylor accompanied

SCHOOL WORK PROGRESSING NICELY.
The Beaver Schools whioh com-
menced work last week aro going
along nicely at this time the courses
having all been arranged and every-
thing gotttn in good working order.
The attendanco Is good and while a
Bomuwhat crowded condition exists in
the grades yet the situation is being
handled satisfactorily and everything
is suing along smoothly. We predict
a very successful school year and that
Heaver will sustain her reputation aud
standing of a crcdltablo and accredited

In the oaie of J. W. Hart of Gatu
nho plead guilty to selling liquor a
line of $200.00 and (10 days in jail was
assessed. O. J. Carroll also of Gate
who plead guilty to a similar charge
was fined $100. 00 and given C5 days in
jail at hard labor.
Joe Cain of Forgan who was tried
before Judge Spohn some months ago
and found guilty being fined 1230.00
and given 00 days in jail but who ap-
pealed his case to tho Supremo Court
was surrendered by his bondsmen the
past week. Ho gave now bond Ohas.

Whisonant all of Forgan siguing his
bond.

here this weok looking after the col-
lection of crop rentals and making ar-
rangements for tho farming of his laud

Qco. Nelson who has been employed
in A. N. Eddy's store at LaKemp for
somo time departed Thursday of last
week for his home at Taylor Ridge Ill-
inois. Mr Taylor recently disposed of
his two farms near Sophia and is re
turning to Illinois to remain perma-
nently. F. C. Tracy is in Kansas City this
week making fall aud wintor pur-
chases of merchandise for his big es-
tablishment here and also getting spec
ifications and materials for a newstore
building which will be erected right
away by the Carter Tracy Hardware
Company on their former site in the
burned district.
O. E. Still was over from Qato sov-
oral days the past week looking after
business intorests and inoidontally
prospecting around for a location for a
general store.
-TWO GOOD RAINS THIS WEEK.
Beaver county was visited by two
good rains tho past week whicli won
pretty goueral throughout the county.
A heavy rain fell Tuesday night and
this was followed by a slow steady
rain most of the day Wednesday 2 1-2
inches of water falling which soaked
into tho ground well. Wednesday
night a 2.1-LUioh rain fell. The ground
has been given a thorough soaking and
the rains will be a great benefit to the
wheat whioh has Just been sown as
well as placing the ground in fine con-
dition fur sowing. Some damago to
hroomcorn which was down is report-
ed but the loss will not bo great in
that line.
D. II. S. ALUMNI ENTERTAINED.
Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Moore ontortaln-
ed the alumni of Beaver High School
in honor of their son William and
Harold Loofbourrow graduates of the
Class of 1015 who lcavo tomorrow for
Norman to enter the State University.
A large number of the classes of 1012
'18 '14 and '15 were present and enjoy-
ed a mot delightful evening. Dainty
refreshments were served.

Beryl was born at Elmwood and has
grown to young manhood In our midst.
Ho has the ability to mako good and
those who know him feel that he will
do so. The bride is a Btranger to tho
peoplo of Beaver but she has the ap-
pearance of a capable sensible girl and
one who will fill creditably her place
In tho new home Just founded by this
union.

Col. I S. Drummond Beaver's vet-
eran gardener and lloriet presented the
editor of the Herald with a sample of
very fine strawberries the first of the
week. These berries aro of the Ever
bearing variety and are said to produce
fruit from April to November. Mr.
Drummond started his plants this sea-
