Mrs. Charles Eyer of Clear Lake was
given a Surprise party In honor of her

A Now Year Watch Parly was pro-
paced for tho "young folks" by her
charming daughter Miss Grace who
knows just how to arrange an evonlng
of pleasure for the homo folks and
friends. So Miss Grace was a very
busy little lady getting ready for the
friends to help her welcome the New

known and after much inuilu each
guest tried to see just how much en

Eyer who by this time had reeovered
from her surprise and was her usual
self in making all feel sure she appre
elated their presence and remembrance
After social chats and instrumental
as well as vocal music was rendered
dainty refreshment were served and
promptly as the Old ear yielded up
the ghost to bright new 1015 a Cra(ld
salute was given with best wishes for
the "Eyera" who are among our best
uitlicns and have a host of friends.

Absolutely Thrown Away
One of tho rottenest and rankest
duals that was ever pulled nil In Ba-
vrr county was that which was put
through by Commissioners MoLain nnd
Rutlcdge Tuesday in the. awarding of
the count; printing (or the present
term qf two years to the LuKcmp
Mirror. By their aation 1800 OQuf the
taxpiyer's money was deliberately
thrown away to MlUfv thu revenge of
few disgruntled would'bo politicians
whom the Herald opposed in the re
cent election
The matter of awarding the county
j'lti work and designating an tilBulal
paper for the publication of all legal
notices under the jurisdiction of tho
Board of County Commissioners was
taken up The editor of tint IIkbald
submitted a proposition coveting all
he work. The editor of the LnlCimp
Mirror submitted a bid for the 1nb
work ONLY. No other bids were sub-
mitted A motion was made by Rut.
ledgo (democrat) that the Board pro-
ceed to designate a paper to do that
part of the county printing tho prlc
of whloli Is fixed by law. (Theoounty
printing for which the price is Hind by
aw is tliH publtrntfon nf the Comails-
loner's proceedings and delinquent tax
lints.) The motion curried
Tho IIr(
ald's proposition being the ONLY
ONE before the Board asking for that
pnr f the countv printing or which
the pilqn is fixed by law motion was
iiidUe byCommissioner Criswell that
the contract he awarded the Herald.
The motijn was lost for want of a sec-
ond. Rutledge (democrat) then made
a motion tnat the LaKemp Mirror be
designated to do all county printing
the price of which is fixed by law and
the motion was seconded by MoLaitl
(democrat). The motion carried Hut-
ledge and MoLain voting aye and Crls-
well voting ny. Tho LxKemp Mirror
Jiud kUbmltted no proposition for any-
thing except tho Job work yet Hutledge

MoLain awarded that paper the
printing at the full legal ratt In thu

SOLUTELY FKEE OF OHAltUE for
just the same amount that the count;
will now pay the LaKemp Mirror Un-
der the contract mndc by McLatn nnd

Bcaver.anunty. has cost the taxpayers
(1800 CO more than it would have cost
the in had the Herald been so desig-
nated.' Such action may be good poll
tics but poor economy. McLnln and

economical administration. Is this a

to do all county printing the price of

Information of the Board we filed a
statement showing that tho job work
during the past two years had cost the
county I7W.05. Tho LaKemp Mirror
filed a b;d for tho work at exactly the
sa.me contract price undor which the
work had Copt the county 7U.03 the.
past two years except they agreed to
cut down the price of bar dockets from
$1.00 to 00 cento pqr page.. Only one
bar dnck-t has been printed during tho
past six years and It Is not 'Ikely that
another will he printed fothe next six
years. The Forgan KnterprUe filed a
