cates interested In pushing new rail-
way projects are. making signs like they
intended to do something to get a part
of the wheat trallic next year.
Tlia Colorado Kansas A Oklahoma
railway company recently organized
and which is bunked by the Common-
wealth Trust Co. of St. Louis has
taken over the Scott City & Northern
line from Scott City to Winona buy-
ing it in at receiver's salo.
They announce that there is to be
n extension eastward and that work
will bo started on it the first of Octo-
ber. This short line botweon Scott City
and Winona nbout fifty miles long
does not pay operating expenses now
but the new owners ay they in
tend to extend it and ninke it a part of
a now trunk line to Denver.
Hero is what probably will happen
At Forgan Okla a new town built on
the prairie some thirty miles below
Liberal is the end of a newly con
structed railway now onucd hy the

practically across the state of Oklaho-
ma thu Wichita Falls railway.
The present terminus of this road is

The "Katy" interests have been trying
to get Into Denver making a new short
lino from Denver to the Gulf.
The Commonwealth Trust Co of St.
Louis is closely identilled aitli the
At. K it T. interests. It is rumored
that thu next railway construction
move in southwestern Knnns will he
to build the gap between Forgan and
Scott City and connect up the newly
acquired Scott City line with the
Wichita Falls.
That would give a connection witli
the Union Pacific at Winona and
through train servico to Denver as soon
as the Forgau-Scott City gap is built.
T'ie new lino would very likely be
built through Liberal and Garden City
giving Haskell county its north and
south road crossing the Santa Fc's
new lino probably at Sublette and go-
lii(? through Santa Fe which was
missed by the other road.

High School Outlook Bright.
The coming.year promises to be the
most successful in the history of tho
Deaver schools. Many inquiries are
coming in concerning school work and
from the indications the enrollment will
bo larger than ever before.
The graduating class for next year
will contain at least six possibly eight
graduates. This does exceptionally
well for a town the size of Beaver and
for a high school only two years old.
There is no reason why any pupil
should go outside the county to secure
a high school training when it is to be
secured right at hniue. Ourschool
here is fully accredited is well eijuip-
ed properly classified and has as strong
a faculty ns can be found in tho state
Wu trust that the. hovttnnd girls of this
county who are in need of high school
work will make preparation to secure
it. An excellent opportunity is before
thnm and should nut he allowed to
pass by unnoticed. A year spent in
school now will Accomplish more than
when tho pupil is a few years older
Arrange to enter school September
1st 1013.
