of their excellent concerts at the Court
House Tuesday evening nnd enter
tained the large crowd whloh was in
attendance in a most pleasing manner.
The Beaver band is one of the best
musical organizations in this entire
section and they certainly play some
first-class music. Few towns the size
of Beaver nre as fortunate as we In this
particular. A good No 1 band Is a
big drawing card for any town. Hea-
ver people appreciate this faot too and

Probably tho suit attracting the
greatest Interest during tho present
term nf district court nt least tho one
in which the grenteit number of wit-
nesses have been in attendance hns
been the itctlon brought by Mrs. S. M
Calhoun against Dr. Messersnilth nf
Floris nlleglng mal practico and ask-
ing damages.
It wns all-ged that Mrs. Calhoun be-
coming suddenly ill called Dr. Mcsser-
smith who visited her once. It seems
that the Doctor left the customary
word that If the patient did not get
nlong nil right to cnll him again nnd
the plaintiff alleging that the doctor
was summoned a second time that ho
neglected to come caused her grent
physical pnln endnngerod her life and
compelled her to send to Benvor for
another physician for which sho sued
to recover $51.00 pild tho other physi-
cian nnd for a further sum of $5000 00
exemplary dnmnges.
Dr. Messersmith denied that he had
over been requested to ako the second
call nnd the caso practically centered
upon this issue. About nil tho physi-
cians in Beaver county wore called as
witnesses either for tho plaintiff or de-
fendant The Jury returned a verdict nwnrd-
mg Mrs. Calhoun the $5100 aetuil
damngc nnd fifty dollars exemplary
damages. Owing to"the grent number
of witnesses in attendance however the
costs adjudged ngiust the defendant
will amount to many times the amount
of the Judgment.

A Splendid Program.
It was our good fortune to be able
to attend a program given by tho Lit-
erary Societies of the Deavor High
School. at the High School building
Friday afternoon of last waek and we
wore indeed surprised and delighted
with the afternoon's entertainment.
Mucli has been said of tho value of
our city schools this winter and of the
good work that is being done but to
fully appreciate the extent of tho work
and the excellent results that aro be
ing reaped by the students one has
but to see their advancement demon
strated as it was in the program ren-
dered on this occa-ion.
Great things are being done In tho
Beaver schools this year and every boy
and girl in' attendance is being given
an opportunity as they never had be-
fore for ndvnne.oinent. The instruc-
tors aro capable wido-awake and en-
thusiastic and aro making our institu-
tions of learning a source of pride to
the entire community and the people
of the county have found that they can
do no better than to send their child-
ren here for higher Instruction which
they cannot obtain in the rural school
Beaver's high school is fully accredited
and offers every advantage that Is to
bo found in any school any pluce. Wo
are proud and Justly so of the super-
ior work that Is being done.
