Juno this joar was a most delightful
month but do you remember what wo
got In Juno 1011? July ban Btarted in
some different and Is warming things
up. We'll probably get all the heat
that's coming to us during July and
August. Just now with the thermom-
eter hovering around 100 try and imag-
ine those huge snowdrifts of December
January and February. That might
help some. Imagination works won-
ders sometimes.
Wheat harvest is on in full1 blast In
all parts of the county and thcro is
much of the golden grain to bo taken
caro of. The yield will be extraordi-
narily good this seaton. We 'aro migh-
ty glad to bco Beaver county farmers
getting a good harvest for last year
was a severe trial to hundreds of them
and they need a bountiful yield to oft-
gut those tremendous losses. Prospects
for full crops are good too ft looks
like 101- wa going to bo .a bumper
crop year

to give us Irrigation in Wt-steru Okla-
homa when he goes to Congress. We'd
like the Irrigation all right but we
hardly believe the voters will tukc to
the woods (Forrest) to get it. Ho don't
look like the next Congressman from
tho Second District to us. Never 1

Jack Juhiifon still retains the belt as
the champion prize llghtorof the world
having knocked out Jim I'lynn in the
ninth round in their encounter for
pugilistic supremacy at Las Vegas N
M. July 4th. I'lynn proved an easy
victim for the big black. It tho cham-
pionship is to be wrested from tho ne-
gro a better man than Flynu and he's
a b'g burly Irishman too will have to
be found.
Tho political primaries will soon be
held and the nominees Bulccted for the
various county olllco. Sumo positions
are not contested for only one candi
date being in tho Held. Other ofllces
aro being sought by a number of as
pirants Many of tho voters have no
doubt already investigated tho merits
of tho various candidates and aro pre
pared fbcast their ballot Intelligently
and to the best Interest of their party
and the county. Wo trust all will give
the matter more than passing consid-
eration. Tho future of our county de-
pends upon tho men who havo charge
of its public affairs and it is time that
tho voters were waking up to the truth
of this statement. As a commonwealth
wis one 'no man anything and hence
only able cfllclcnt olllcers should be
chosen to conduct tho business affairs
of the county. There aro many good
men in the Held. Somo aro asking the
same olllco. Only one can bo named
of course but let him bo one f the
best. Don't east your vote unworthily.
Nominate capnble men ulrct them and
then require that they discharge their
duties lawfully.
A Splendid Celebration.
Beaver pulled olT an exceptionally
good colebrationJuly ltd and 4th and
If everyone of tho vast number in at-
tendance did not havo an exceptionally
good timo it was their own fault.
Every feature of the big two-days
event was carried out as advertised and
much credit is duo the committee who
had the celebration in hand as well as
the entire citizenship of Beaver for
making such a season of genuine pleas-
ure possible. There was no little work
connected with planning and executing
an event of this proportion that nothing
was overlooked and there is not h rea-
sonable objection that could bo made
to any part of the two-days meeting.
If there is a single being who Is so un-
grateful as to desire to register a kick
he had best keep his complaint to him-
self for of the hundreds who weie in
attendance we don't believe there
would ho a half doznn it that many
but who would brand htm as a profes-
sional knocker and grumbler. Beavor
peoplo spent their money some 1500 00
and did a wholo lut of work to make
tho celebration a success and wo be-
lieve their efforts wero appreciated and
that all who came had a genulno good
lime.
The races both days woro particul-
arly good and wero enthusiastically en-
joyed by all. Tho largo circle track
was a splendid feature and the grand-
stand substantially constructed and
well shaded made watching tho various
sports a real pleasure. Tho ball game
between Couch and Forgan was hotly
contested by both sides and resulted
in a tie ut tho ninth Inning whloh when
played oft was won by Couch by a nor
row margin of two scores. Both teams
put up a good light und tho gamo was
close all tho way through. The specta
tors from the grandstand indulged In
a constant volley of good uatured roas'-
ing llrst for one side and then the other
and everybody enjoyed tho fun
