Tho matter whleh excited tho iro of

about tho nowsnarer buelncssi was our
article In the Hrrald of the 10th Inst.
in which wo comnlalned of tho enorm

board of cnualiintton. Mr. Tooker
presented a powerful argumontf?) In
defensoof the Board's notion nnd he
thinks that taxes are no higher than
they should bo. Tho raise suits him
exactly and he thinks it tho proper
thing. All who agree with him stand
on your head. Nothing doing. Of
course ordinarily It makes very llttlo
difference to tho person who has no
taxes to pay whether they be high or
low but we know n whole lot of farm-

who are heartily sick of being bur

grafting bunch of pirates whose great
ilm seems to bo to run our grand ship

Tho truth of tho matter la this

Tho Board claims tho six blocks now
supposed to havo boon reserved for tho
use of tho city ns parks.
The netltion sots forth ovcry lot nnu

vey the same to tho Board of JiUuea-

solidated School District No 22
Many of tho lots aro held by thoso
who claim vested rights and cqultnblo
titles.
Our understanding fron) Messrs.

such a decreo in a suit to which every
possible or contingent claimant lias

Of courso tho suit is of vast Impor-
tance to this School District and tho
decreo tha will vest in It tho titlo to
the lots and blocks to which it shall bo

uable nnd increasing asset which will
result in Inrge reduction of the school

The Board of Education aro to bo
