dashed it on the flame and extinguish-
ed it beforo any harm was dono.

Providence With Us Yet
Notwithstanding the fact that Beaver
h practically at tho mercy of Provi-
denco In tho matter of fire protection
yot no move is made on the part of
our citizens to protect ourselves.
Again this week when a gasoline stovo
started a blazo at the Stono restaurant
jve were warned but we presume the
warning will go unheeded. Even
though thero aro fifteen small chemi-
cal extinguishors in the various busi-
ness houses of Beaver only four were
on the scone Monday and it Is a fact
that iome of tho extinguishers are not
oven charged with tho chemicals.
We wish that thoro woro some nav1
possible for us to wako up tho peoplo
of Beaver to our dancer. Somo of
theso days it will bo another old story
of tho fire of May Oth and our only
consolatlflh will be the faot that we
are not surprised.;
A Big Spread
Tho Marthas society of tho Christ-
Ian church gave a Thanksgiving din-

beforo witnessed In Beaver. Theso
good women managed this occasion
with their customary ability and
nothing war lacking to nfaCe. tho feast
one grand success. Good things to

thing was cooked to n Queen's taste.
Tho menu was as follows: Turkey

toes sweet potatoes veal loaf dress-
ing plealllll pickles celery mince
pie pumpkin plo cake cofTco sherbet
fruit

lime hot biscuits and Ice cream wore
added to tho above menu.
If any who sat at that festtvo board
went away hungry it was certainly
their own fault. Those who partici-
pated in this pleasant occasion wre
loud In their praiso of the gnod women
who entertained so delightfully nnd
upon oviiry hand ono could hear "Well
lira of nil today I am thank'ul for tho
Marthas society and that I am fortu-
