to learn Tuesday of tiio closing of his
general merchandise storo. the same
having been taken by The Bank or Bea-
ver City to cover a mortgage this step
being tuken on advise ol the proprietor.
Wholesale houses at Wichita and Hut-
chinson are nlso creditors.
In the closing of this storo no blame
can be laid on Mr. Madison but to
tlioso customers wlioavoiled themselves
of his courtesy in extending urcdit ana
then failed to come to'his rescue when
his bills came due. Mr. Madison ox-
tended every courtesy to his customers
and as the case lias proven was too

candidate For Superintendent .
A letter from C. A. Dickenson ol
Sunset enclosing the necessary and
authorizing the Hkiuld to announce
iiis candidacy for Superintendent ol
Public Instruction of Beaver County
-subject to the will of the Democratic
party is the cause for this article.
Mr. Dickenson has been a teacher in
Beaver county for the past several
years and his work along that lino bus
oeen everywhere universally satisfac-
tory. He is well fitted educational!)
to fill the position being th possessor
of ono of the bst grado certificate is-
sued in the county.
His candidacy is meeting with strong
favor in the Democratic camp and be-
ing th first candidate to ask for that
oHico will no doubt make a strong race
for the nomination. It seems too bud
to defeat sueh a good "man but his pol-
itical complexion is against him.
However it takes two to make a race
and since no Republican has askvd as
yet to become the other runner wo
can't tell yet awhile just what the Re-
publican majority may be.
bririsls-d) 'Convention Delegates
to Reach Geary .
Geary Okla. The dilllculty with
which many of the delegates reached
Geary is another evidence of the need
of nn east and west line of railroad in
western Oklahoma. The Dewey coun-
ty delegates drove thirty miles to
catch tlfe Rock Island to Geary. Day
county delegates were compelled to
ride on the Sun ta Fe into Kansas or
drivo across tho country througli
Dewey county.
Beaver county holds the palm how-
ever. The delegates were compelled
to drive across country fifty to 11 hun-
dred miles to Shattuck or to go via
Winfleld. Guthrie Oklahoma City and
El Reno to get to Gcmy describing al-
most a complete circle. Wichita (Kas)
Eagle.
