Caption: "Saved by the width of a parking meter pole, the driver of this car, Dorothy Marie Lay, 33, lost control as she tried to turn into an alley in the 100 block S Broadway and traveled 33 feet along the sidewalk before striking the meter. She was cited for driving negligently and without a state drivers license. The meter expired at the scene."
