Chandler is Much Obliged to the Frisco for Giving the Double Train Service
Single Statehood Convention.
I ^HE single statehood executive
^ committee held a meeting at
Oklahoma City last wjek and issued
a call for a non-partisan, inter-terri-
torial convention of the friends of
single statehood to be held at Mus-
kogee on November 14th. Before
this meeting of the committee was
held there was some talk in the news-
papers that the committee might de-
fer action till they could learn what
course some of the prominent politi-
cians might think best, but it is grati-
fying to note that when the committee
came together they were so well in-
formed as to the wishes of the people,
of the two territories and so confident

the five governors that Okla-
lahoma has had, Governor
Jenkins is the first to accept an invi-
tation to come to Lincoln county and
meet the people of the county in a
reunion. In fact he is about the first
of our governors who has shown any
appreciation of the fact that Lincoln
county stands well toward the head
of the list in the development of her
numerous and vaiied resources
as well as in the extent and
intelligence of her population. His

appreciated here, and his visit to
Chandler during the reunion and log-
rolling made him many friends.
Not the mere fact of his coming to
the county increased his popularity
so much, but our present governor is
a.man whom people are pretty sure
to like when they come to know him.

in the growth of Chandler and the.volume of busi-

will visit Chandler often in the future.

TT IS pretty good sign that a country has some
*■ good points when its people are always better
satisfied with it after they have been away from
home for a while. This is a way in which Lin-
coln county people have the merits of their loca-
tion emphasized quite often. Nearly every day
we meet some one who testifies to a better ap-
preciation of Lincoln county by reason of his
having compared it with less favored localities.
