the Supreme court of Oklahoma.
Mr. Burwell is a prominent attor-

"The president to day sent to the
senate the name of B. F. Burwell to
succeed Judge Kenton as associate

"Judge Burwell had practically
the unanimous endorsement of the

his claim for months. In addition
to his home endorsement Judge

of Illinois Congressmen Babcock
and Cannon of Wisconsin; besides
manv other congressmen. He also

organizations of several statts.
"The nomination whs decided up
on three weeks ago, but owing to
the all-absorbing Cuban question
prevented action."
A Washington special to the
Guthrie Capital dated March. 15th.
says: Jud„e Burwell, who was ap-

"Judge B F. Burwell was born
in Armstrong county. Pennsylva-

where he practiced law until 1891
when he moved to this city.

active in politics in this city. He
has had a most successful legal ca

your" B. F. Wolf:"Idj not know
much of him. I was beginning to
think we would keep Judge Keaton
for some time, however I am not
surprised." A. Nicodemus: "Sofar
as I am concerned, he is satisfact-
ory. I never met him but once,
however I was favorably impressed
at the time, I would, of course liked
very much to have seen C. L. Bota-

"He must be a good man for 1 am
told he he it* a Baptist. I favored
C. L. Botsford, of course, as he in
our townsman." S. J. Wilkins:
• While I wan Probate Judge he
was in my court and demonstrated
hin ability as an attorney." B. F.
Williams, Jr: "The appointment
suits me. He was a member of
the examination committee that
admitted me to practice." A. W.
Fisher: I have no kick to make ex-
cept from a political stand point."
X. Beldon and J. J. Burke are ap-
plicants tor the deputy clerkship.
Mr. Burke is at present doing ed-
itorial work on the Transcript and
Mr. Beldon has been employed as
clerk in the various offices for some
time. Both are well qualified for
the position."
W. M. Newell: "The appointment
