Declaring that he has frequently
been informed that teachers in the
state are not observing the Ameri-
canization laws as they relate to tlie ,lan,,s
schools, R. li. Wilson, state super-
intendent of schools, has mailed to
sill county superintendents in the
state a letter calling attention to the
fact that the laws must not be viola-
ted. Wilson declared in li s letter
that fa lure to abide by the statute
should be sufficient grounds for the
discharge of any teacher.
The laws to which he referred pro- ,
vide:
That the American flag must be
displayed in every school room.
That patriotism must be taught in
the schools. (Clonics of patriotic •
programs for this purpose were sent
to all county >upcr ntendents recent- j
ly. the letter stated.)
That all teachers must take an oath
of allegiance.
That all schools, public, parochial
or private, must teach to children be-
low the eighth grade no language
except English.
not be overlooked in the Christmas
activities, for a well-filled Cedar tree
has been engaged and will be tilled
t, the brim with good tats and pres.
cuts, they say.
The plan is that everyone draw
and prepare a present for that
individual in addition to any extra
i nes which they may desire to give.
The names have been drawn and
everyone is busily engaged in prepar-
ing a suitable gift. Many freak .tints
will also be featured on the program,
it is believed.
