That Circular Letter
Cox as a "Wet" Candidate
Women voters of \'<<rnian are receiving litis week
U tters which are supposed to he from the ollice of the
organized li<|ii<«r trade , hut which is not signed. It is an
anon vinous "lonn litter, calculated to make the unsus-
pecting voter believe that Governor Cox is a "wet" can-
didate. There is no name sij
received hv Norman citizens.
'•iiecl to anv oi these letter
On the reverse side of the sheet, however, there is a
cleverlv worded appeal for funds with which to fight the
1 i(Inor trade. This is -cut out by Geo. T. Connoll, presi-
dent of the Anti-Saloon League, hut does not accuse
(iovernor Cox of being of "wet" tendencies. It merelv
•ets forth the idea that the reader has never failed to re-
spond to such an appeal and. in the writer's belief, never
will.
In all it is the clever product of a wily schemer, out to
graft citizens of Norman oil pretenses ot using it in the
Anti-Saloon fight, which, thank God, was won long ago.
Such anonvmous accusation as this can do no harm to
the cause of (iovernor Cox in his campaign for the presi-
dencv. I I is is a cause which is becoming far more popular
every day, and the fact that he is the only nominee who
has come out and stated that lie was unreservedly in favor
of the "Volstead" act (the "Bone-dry" law) and would
that it was enforced, is only one of the things which
'•ainiug support for him daily.
